The license is good for 60 days (from the issue date). It's $40 (cash!) and you need 2 forms of ID, like driver's license, passport, work photo ID.
We're getting ours at the end of this month. Oh, and you need to go during the week too. We're going to Hempstead and I think the hours are like 9 - 3:30 or something like that.

Re: When do you get marriage license?
Someone just posted on BHB for Smithtown you need soc sec card & DL - they would not accept birth certficate!! Just FYI.
We still haven't gone yet. Of course I wanted to go 60 days exactly but FH was like 'a month before'.

Re: When do you get marriage license?
uh oh... i don't know where my social security card is! question-- do you have to get the license in the county/borough where you live? or are getting married? or does it not matter? I read its cheaper in the city (i live in queens anyway).

I don't think it matters on the location you get your license or does it?

Re: When do you get marriage license?
Most Town Clerk's Office's in Suffolk County (except for Smithtown) ask for driver's license and certified birth certificate. (I work for Riverhead Town Clerk).
