If you want hand calligraphy, and want to mail them 8 weeks before the wedding, when is a good time to order?
Ordering early never did anyone harm. It allows for mistakes to be corrected, and to have them out as early as you want. For custom made invites, it's advised to get them done AT LEAST six months in advance, and the rest at least four months in advance.

My wedding is at the end of August, and I just ordered mine last week. Like Christine said, more time allows for corrections.
