Re: When do you register?

I did not register before my ''e' party. I am planning on registering in January. My wedding is the 1st week of April. I think I'm very late with this. I probably should have done it already!!!

Re: When do you register?

I was engaged in June and registered in August since so many of my family members wanted to buy us engagement gits. So we went and registered for crystal, china etc for that and had our e-party in Oct. We are getting married in 9/03 so we still need to register for fun everyday stuff (plates, lines, etc.). Good luck!

Re: When do you register?

I registered shorty after we were engaged, before our engagement party. Lots of people who came to our engagement party bought off of the registry.

Re: When do you register?

My advice would be to register asap! As soon as people hear you are engaged, they'll start buying gifts !! If you're registered, you can pass the word around, and get gifts you really want/need.

We didn't have an e-party, but did receive lots of gifts when we made our engagement official.

We registered at Fortunoff's, and I'd definitely recommend them. I love that store! No problems with people buying gifts, no problems with returns. My future sil registered at Williams Sonoma and Michael C Fina, and she was very happy working with those stores too.

Good luck! Registering was a challenging job (DH does not like to shop), but fun...

Re: When do you register?

I second registering at Fortunoff - their customer service there is fantastic and they have everything! I also registered at Crate & Barrel which is fun for the everday stuff too!

Re: When do you register?

When I had my e party, I actually requested no gifts. But, alot of people bought things for us anyway. I received beautiful waterford toasting glasses, money and alot of gift cards. I have been trying to decide on where to register. Based on the other post, I wanted BBB, but I think I will go some where else. I like the Crate and Barrell idea.

Theresa, where are you planning on registering??

Re: When do you register?

Ronnie loves to shop as much as me..

Since our families have VERY different finances we will register at Fortunoff, Macys and maybe Target....

I know he has some family that aren't so well off....

So it gives everyone a very good variety....

I think after the holidays we will register but I would rather have $$ for the 'e' party!!!!

Re: When do you register?

theresa - I would register ASAP! Do your scouting now, while you're not pressed, but definitely do it b/f your e party. Believe me, you'll get gifts, so it'll help everyone out in the long run.

I picked 2 places I liked ... Fortunoff's & Willliam's Sonoma. Both had online availability. I did all of my bakeware & kitchen gagets @ William's Sonoma... I didn't even have to go in, I did it all online. I did everything else @ Fortunoff's. That we went in for. But you can start browsing online, even create your own account.

I did all of the looking w/MOM, then took Vinnie later to scan things in. It makes it MUCH easier. Then I promised him I would take him to the Cheesecake Factory for dinner. I worked out great!

Good luck!

Re: When do you register?

we registered a month or so after we got engaged, simply because we were being hounded to get it done b/c family and friends kept asking. even though we were registered we still got allot of $$ at the e party, and some gifts (family is more likely to give a gift, friends give $$)

theresa, you may want to check out Bed bath and beyond also (right across the street from fortunoff) they have similar stuff to fortunoff but there are more of them around. we registered at both.

Re: When do you register?

Thanks EVERYONE!!!!!!!

I am not a fan of BBB for many reasons. I was actually thrown out of the store( I was asked to leave) bc I cursed out a few people there..

They weren't helpful at all and I lost it..

I will not give ANY store like that my business....

UGh I can't even think about going to do this till Jan 03.. Heheh.. That is soon enuff!!!

I dont' cook or bake..

Do I need to get things for that anyway?

Re: When do you register?

We were engaged in April, registered in June, and had a E-party in August. We got a lot of presents from our registry for our e-party. Actually we could stock a empty kitchen (LOL). But if you don't enjoy cooking - don't register for those things. Register for items you know you'll use. Good luck!
