When is a good time to look at a florist?

I'm not getting married until next August. I have all these great ideas in my head but I don't want to get ahead of myself.

I booked my florist very early also. It was over a year before my wedding. I booked early for the same reasons. I knew what I wanted. I went with Burton's.

My first trip to the florist was too early, I hadn't even picked out the girls dresses. I would say once you have your colors. Then you can go!

Thanx. I think I might wait a little while.

I don't think it is too early to get ideas, but keep in mind you might see something different that you like closer to your Wedding, I just put all my ideas and pictures in a folder until it was time for the appointments and when I went I didn't go with NY of my ideas, the florist brought different ideas also and those are the ones I choose! Good Luck!

I booked my florist in I think it was this past November - my wedding is May 2004. I have not picked out colors just yet (although I have an idea) but I knew the florist I wanted and just wanted to get them booked. I did this really early though, I think alot of people wait to 6-8 months before.

SInce you have over a year to go, what I would do if I were you would be to start researching different florist, and also collect pictures of bo-ks and centerpieces you might like.
Think about the colors of your wedding, and also what 'look' you're going for, whether it will be simple elegance, colorful fun, etc. . . .

That way, in a few months, you can really start making appts w/the florists you have researched and be prepared with a pretty good idea of what you're looking for.

I started to go to vendor showcases to get ideas, then I also had in mind the colors I wanted the bridal party in (Black and white) . I started to look about 14 months before- look online, in magazines, at wedding showcases, even sit down with them even if u are not taking them, then go to the florist you are interested in , we went about the 1 year mark-which is officially tomorrow!!! (3-28) I am using colonial Florist in Bellmore, I suggest you go to him, they really know there flowers and are very picky about only giving u the best and freshest flowers that they have. ( Ask for Claudio or anyone else there)

Is it important to book a florist so you at least have one. What I mean is do they only do one wedding a day so once they are booked you are out of luck.

The florist was the last vendor that I booked. I would go sometime after you pick the bridesmaid dresses and figure out your color theme.
