When Should I have my venue booked by?

Hi girls !

Im new here and reading through the 2014 brides chat! I plan on getting married in September of 2014 and thought I had a lot of time to look at and book my venue! looking through this chat I see a lot of weddings close to mine with the venues booked already! Am I behind? When should I have my venue booked by?

When Should I have my venue booked by?

Soon!! I'm getting married July 2014 and I booked a few weeks ago and there were THREE summer dates that were available for my venue. I definitely recommend getting at least the venue set ASAP

Congrats! I booked my venue 15 months prior. I initially was looking to have my wedding Sept-Nov 2013 and was looking a year in advance but I had VERY limited choices. There were more options for Fridays and Sundays but I was looking for a Saturday. When I found my venue in October, there were no Saturday dates left for fall 2013 (only 1 day in May & 1 day in Dec) and I ended up pushing my wedding to January for that reason. I think you have time but if you have a specific date in mind, I would definitely try to book it at least a year and a half in advance.

I would definitely book soon! We're getting married Dec. 2014 and we booked just booked it about 2 weeks ago! Places were already booked for our date!

When Should I have my venue booked by?

My FH is deployed until october/ november so I wanted to try and wait to book the venue with him! Planned on having it narrowed down to 2-3 venues I liked the most, but now i'm nervous that I should have it booked way before he comes home!

If it makes you feel better i choose the venue without my FH..he lives out side of the country so I pretty much have to pick things out by myself...which is a good and bad thing:)

I would book asap. I got engaged in Oct and thought it wouldnt be a problem to wait until after the holidays. I was shocked how many dates were already booked!

Congrats and welcome! We booked in July 2012 for Sept 2014 and there were dates already booked for Oct 2014 when we looked at most places. So I say as soon as you know where you want book!

Congratulations! Definitely book as soon as you can. I am getting married June 2014 and booked my venue in August 2012. The places I looked at already had a few summer 2014 weddings booked when I was looking.

definitely agree with all of the above!! I got engaged right before Thanksgiving and went hunting ASAP because December is a huge month for engagements. I looked for 2 weeks found my venue and had my choice of dates!! My engagement is 20 months exactly!

Definitely book ASAP, especially because fall is now the busy season.
If you have communication with him send him pictures of places you like and have him make a list of what he would want and book before he comes back if you can.

COngrats and welcome!.. While i am doing destination, based on experiences from others I would definitely book soon, especially if you want a specific date. Many places book years in advance.

My FH is deploying in February and we booked already for October 12, 2014. He's supposed to get back in September or October of this year, but even if he gets extended it will still give us time. Make sure you talk to the venues though in case he does get extended and you need to reschedule, see what their policy is! East Wind is being great about it, I explained it and they'll accommodate me however they can.

I agree about peak season and dates being booked. I booked April 2012 for my May 2014 wedding. Plus, if you'll book soon, you'll get the 2013 rates. I'm not sure when venues jump to 2014 pricing, but some of the price differences between years have been pretty significant!
