I am getting married in March 09 and I am seeing that sooo many of you have dresses already ;-( am i behind? I wasn't going to order mine until like march of 08.. I am trying to lose 10 lbs before dress shopping.... this is still enough time right????

Just a word of caution. Dresses tend to get discontinued around the time that designers bring out their new spring and fall lines. So that's usually the months of like Feb/March and August/September. I ordered my dress in the middle of july, one year before my wedding. Two weeks later it was discontinued. Luckily I had placed the order just in time. If you start looking at dresses, and you find something you like, find out how long it has been in production. The longer it has been out, the higher the chance of it being discontinued. My dress had been in production for two years, and the girls at the bridal shop said that typically dresses aren't in production for that long. Other than that, happy shopping!
I am getting married in November of '09 and I probably won't start looking until September of '09. I kinda know what I want already but you never know until you try them on.
2 months before your wedding? it won't come in on time

I wouldn't get it too soon if i were you. I waited till about 10 months before my wedding to order. LI weddings time line says to do it a year in advance. I think ordering it sooner then that is just asking you to find something you like better later...
agreed! The more time you give yourself..the more you will find that you might like..i got mine at my year mark.//

I think if you want to start looking now that is fine, dont commit until you are 100 percent sure. Your wedding is in the beginning of 09 so its not THAT early. I just started looking and my wedding is in early April. I prob wont order until end of feb or march. Everyone is different. Once you buy a dress (if youve tried on enough) you wont regret it.
not true! i tried on 50+ dresses..and ive second guessed my choice several times and almost did regret the purchase, and know several other girls who are also second guessing there choices..new styles come out each season..theres always a possibility of finding something you like better

i'm planning to go this summer, a year before the wedding. i heard from someone that it's better to wait because trends are constantly changing. on the other hand, i don't feel like i've noticed much of a difference in bridal gowns from year to year.

I am telling you this from experience - (wow i am not going on the 09ers board IoI) WAIT AS LONG AS YOU CAN to order you gowns. TOO many people have changed their minds. I am a march bride who ordered her dress the first week of june and it will be in next month just in time for my fittings. I waiting as long as I could possibly stand it to shop and took my time to place my order.
Also when dress shopping don't go on what other people tell you especially your mom because she has one vision of you and you will have another.
I would say all of you at least wait your year mark to start shopping and deff. start shopping by your 9 month marker.

What I said and meant was, that if you've tried on enough dresses and you feel 100% sure in your decision, you should no longer feel the need to continue to search for another dress, therefore you wouldnt be putting yourself in the position of having to regret your decision. I know as soon as I find my dress and order it, i am going to stop looking. I mean what is the point of setting yourself up for disappointment? No one books a hall, and goes out the next weekend to continue looking. It just doesnt make sense to me. JMO.
