When to register?

When to register?

When should you register? I was thinking about a year before the wedding, but is that to soon?

Also, any places you reccommend? I was thinking Crate and Barrel, Macy's, and Fortunoff. Any good/bad experiences with them?

TIA!

Re: When to register?

I would say register as soon as you can- at least for some stuff- we started getting e-gifts quickly and it is better to get what you want..

I am registered at Fortunoff, C&B, Williamns Sonoma and now Bloomies-- I just did bloomies cause I got bedding there- wait like 3 to 4 months before to do that.

Re: When to register?

Are you having an e-party? I think that would help to determine if and when....

I made the mistake of NOT registering yet...and over the holidays my FMIL gave us all of our crystal stemware...don't get me wrong - totally generous gift! And while I don't dislike the pattern she chose, I wish I had registered so that I could have made the decision of what I wanted. Again - totally generous of her and FFIL ---- but I kind of feel like I've been robbed of a decision I was looking forward to making!

Lesson: register sooner rather than later! Of course, I still haven't registered!

Re: When to register?

Not sure on this but I thought it was six-eight months before the wedding...

something that happened to friends of mine when they went to register...Fortunoffs said they may want to wait until at least Feb (they're getting married in Sept) bc some items are updated (like linens and glassware) every season...just a thought

Re: When to register?

No engagement party....some beautiful e-gifts have been coming in, but I see your point...good idea to register now and get what things I would really want. I was thinking going to C&B in February b/c on Sunday mornings, they do a registry event.

Thanks everyone!
