When to register?

Hi, everyone, Just need your opinion on when fi & I should register. Our wedding is in April; fi thinks it's too early, but my mom keeps asking when are we going to register? Thanks, Helen

It`s never really too early...

Though most people wait til the last minute to buy your gifts for the shower, it might be helpful to find some time in the near future to register. Depending on when you got engaged, people who might like to get you an engagement gift could work off your registry. Or, people could also use your registry for holiday shopping as well. We didn`t register until about five months prior to our wedding, but I knew people who registered almost 10 months out from their wedding, and it made me feel like I was late in doing it. But also consider that many places will tell you to keep your registry going for a year after your wedding. So maybe 10 months prior doesn`t seem so bad. If you do register now, or soon, just keep in mind what you request, such as seasonal items. Try to stick to more standard things, then update your list as you get closer to your date. I got pressure from my mother to hurry up and register because the girls were in the process of trying to plan my shower. But I would think you still have some time for that.

When to register?

I don't think now would be too early for you, as long as you stay away from things like bedding and bathroom accessories, which I'm told have a quick turn over and are often discontinued before your wedding if you register too early. I registered 14 months in advance of my date, but only for china, crystal, and other things that are less likely to be discontinued. It was helpful for close relatives because they bought Patrick and me birthday and Christmas gifts off of our registery, which was nice.

When to register?
