When to Send Invitations

We are getting married in Austria and about half of the guest will be coming from NJ, so I want to make sure I send the invitations early enough for themt o make travel arrangements, but I don't want to send them TOO early... so when do you think would be a good time to send them if the wedding is July 28?

maybe you can send out a 'save the date' including all of the travel and accomodation information now....

I already sent out a save the date card but didn't really include much info except a link to our website, sincew e were still in the beginning stages of planning.

I was thinking of sending out information packets with like near by cities and things to do, distances from various airports, and hotels... but then I thought it might be stupid to send that out to people I know won't even be able to come (but I am inviting anyway, just so they know we are thinking of them). So then I just thought I'd send the invitations out earlier enough, and include an Travel and Accomodation insert. Not sure though.

normally its 6-8 weeks before the wedding so you might just want to give them the most amount of time. If people don't know they have to fly to austria then you can tell them verbally or something. 8 weeks is not giving them a long time to purchase plane tickets.

I got married on July 29th, and the invites went out Memorial Day weekend.... However, we sent the save the date out the previosu Sept... ( alot of guests coming in from all over)-- so I'd keep that in mind when people are trying to buy a plane ticket....

I agree, but we are gasp havig an A & B list so we're probley goign to send the invites out w/ 11 weeks in advance so the B's don'tr know they are B-List

I think sending out travel information for your guests is a good idea to send out now.. your guests will get better ticket prices and also give them some time on how to tplan out their vacation - take time off from work and so on...
maybe just send them out to those who you know for sure will be going and send an email to those who you know will not be coming to check out your website for some updates posted?
