A conversation was started on another post and I thought it might be interesting to just have a post for it!
I have been chatting with some of you lovely ladies and have learned that several of you are like me which is not borned and raised in NY.
I am from IL and came to NY for an internship at HKNC. I met my FH online after living here for a year! Now my perm. address is NY!

Born and Raised on Long Island, moved to Boston, spent a year in RI, my permanent house is right outside Boston.... I don't see myself moving back to LI.

Born and raised in Northport
2000- went to school in South Bend, Indiana. Spent a year in Rome
2005- moved to DC. Met FH here in 2006
June 2011- we are moving to NYC!

Born and raised on LI, went upstate for college, lived in Oregon for 6 years, now we live in North Carolina and are never going back to LI

Lived in Baldwin until I headed to college in New Hampshire (2000).
Moved back home to Baldwin in 2004 then moved to Bellmore 11 months later.
Lived there for 4 years and then headed back to Baldwin and just moved to Babylon with FH last week!
Will be on LI until we retire thanks to FH's job and w/ my industry it makes sense to be in NY.
PS - why do I love towns that start with the letter 'B'?? lol

Born and raised in Ecuador, South America. I always used to come to NY during school vacations 'til I graduated from high school, then I moved to Long Island

I hear ya!! I miss my family too but I don't think I would survive very long in my small small small hometown lol
I'm from a college town, so it is pretty large. I'll admit that it doesn't have as much going on as LI but I would move back in a heart beat. FH is a teacher and teachers don't make much in Iowa soooo I guess we're here to stay for a little while. It just makes me so depressed that our mortgage is so much $$$/month and it is the tiniest thing ever...def wouldn't have that problem back home!

Born and raised in Queens. Moved to Long Island in 2000. We just bought an apartment in Great Neck. We'll likely stay on Long Island unless we move to California (FH's work, and my kinda sorta dream)

Born upstate in Elmira - came to Hauppauge in 79 - raised - lived with an ex in Deer Park - went back to Hauppauge - lived with FH in Rosedale for a bit and now we live in Islip!!!! Long Island girl here!

Moved to LI (Ronkonkoma) at 9 months old Moved to Medford on LI at 4
Lived in Syracuse, NY for 4 years for college Now FH and I live outside Baltimore in MD for almost 3 years (his job, and I'm in grad school) We ARE moving back to LI in the next few years though....well FH is from NJ, so he is moving there for the first time lol

Okay, this might turn into a novel but I'll try to keep this short lol
> Born in Kosova - lived there until I was 5 > Moved to Switzerland for 6 months > Then lived in Sweden for 2+ years > Went back to Montenegro for 1 year > Then went to Bulgaria for 1 year > Then came to the US --- in NY / midtown - lived there until I was about 21-22 > Moved to NJ for about 2 years > Moved to Astoria for 1 year > Moved to NJ for 3 months > Now permanently in Forest Hills with FH in our apartment
