Re: Where are you trying to save ??
There is no cutting back - Just when I think I am going to it winds up costing more.....

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I think places you can cut back on are flowers (they die), limos & invitations (they get thrown out) this is JMO---no offense to whoever thinks it is ridiculous to cut on these items.

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I already posted on this, but the answer is EVERYWHERE! I really did very well with the hall. I've saved probably $11,000 off of the retail price of my wedding so far.

hopefully, we will try and save on favors. It's the one thing that i feel is a nice thing to do but really difficult to find something everyone likes and can use. but i will probably go over budget in that area too!
thats the only thing I dont have to worry about... FMIL is paying for that and wants me to go 'overbudget' with it.. I wish shed help us go 'overbudget' with a few more things
waht ar you getting? my mom wants us to splurge too & will pay for it.

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
i couldnt really try to save in a particular area, i set a budget and went to visit vendors, when i visited them i rthen realized what i valued more, and saved in other areas...
limos, i saved $400 by not getting the rolls, and got a company that cost $300 less...
dj, saved $600 off what i budgeted..
photo and video more than i thought though, so it balanced

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
Dress (want it to be under $700), we're not getting a videographer and the place is including our centerpieces (a dozen roses) and our cake so we're not spending on that either. Oh, and we're having a DJ but that's more my preference than a money saver but I guess it's saving.

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I saved on flowers, completely nixed limos and we're doing a donation instead of a favor, so there too.
and I haven't gone clothes shopping in ages!! I'm going to go nuts after the wedding is over

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I am also saving everywhere. The hall I booked isn't my first choice. My first choice would have been 3 times the price!!!!! I am also making 1/2 of my own centerpieces. I fell that I chose a pretty inexpensive photo/videographer without sacrificing quality. We are getting one big limo, so far the prices are cheaper than if we were to get 3 small ones. We are saving on the honeymoon because my FH's brother gave us his timeshare to use! I am also using the slip that my FSIL wore - it is also my something borrowed! The florist I am going to book also gave me an excellent price! I also bought a lot off ebay.. veil (but I don't want to use it anymore), 2 tiaras,... I got disposable cameras for the tables on sale for 97 cents each at staples the day after thanksgiving

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I think the key to saving is NEGOTIATION... a lot of girls forget that they can negotiate! That's how we've saved most of our money... got the photographer to go from $2600 to $1500, the florist at $500, and negotiated with our reception hall to go from $125 per person, not including tax & service, to $115 per, INCLUDING tax & service... it's all about negotiation!
The other way we're savig money is cutting back on the centerpieces - using bowls with floating candles instead of flowers

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I saved by making sure I chose quality vendors upfront, made sure I did not visit vendors totally out of my price ranges and shopped around early so I didn't have to go with someone because no one else was avaiable. So instead of cutting back really, I made sure I got the best I could for my money. Not quanity but quality.
I didn't do super expensive favors- I spent about $500 on my Krispy Kreme donut favors.

Everywhere! I set up at a budget at the beginning...each category was a % of the total budget. I think I used the knot.com for this. Then...I just made sure I stuck to it. I skipped limos and video and put that money towards photography because it was important to me. I searched for a florist that could give me everything I needed for what my budget was...I didn't sacrafice what I wanted. So far...so good.
same here...plus:
mom is making my gown and BM gowns (3) mom is making centerpieces (no flowers) i am creating my own invites, menus, programs, etc. no favors (perhaps some confetti, TBD) limited the size (we are shooting for ~100 guests) honeymoon will be low key
we 'invested in': the food, the band, and the photography, my mom is an artist and her work will add a unique, personal touch to all other items...

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
We never really set up a budget, but we know our limits (which aren't very high). We are also buying a house next month. So we cut back on ourselves!
We don't really go out much and definitely cut back on clothes shopping!!

Re: Where are you trying to save ??
I'm making my own invitations!
And I don't want to spend a ot on flowers. Te hall we're looking at (Milleridge Cottage) I think provides flowers included in the price, so that woud be good. I'm gonna with simple cabbage roses or something small like that no matter where I have the reception...
