My FSIL is getting engaged and looking at some pretty cheesy shops. She thinks my place was too expensive
Where did everyone else get theirs from?

In the Diamond District through a jeweler my parents have been using for years. But, even if you don't know someone there - go and look! These are the jewelers that sell to Tiffanys, Fortunoffs, Macys, the mall jewelers - everyone - so you get the same (if not better quality) at a much lower cost!

He got mine on Bowery and Canal...I forget the guy's name but he and his staff are all so considerate and attentive. And FH got a great price!

Through a friend who works in the Diamond District as a wholesaler (her firm makes rings that are shown at Tiffany etc)...she is the wife of a guy I used to work with. Dependable, beautiful, beautiful work, and the ring is appraised at 2X what FH paid for it.

My FH got the best deal at David S. Diamonds in NYC. We ckecked Fortunoff, mall stores, and Tri-County. We did have a connection, but in our experience, Fortunoff is the most expensive. Tri County was good too.

got mine from Tri County FI designed it himself so its one of a kind there is a certain store in the mall that when we looked at their rings my ing appraised better then there color clarity cut and size and they were 3000 dollars more. and not only that but when my cousins got married they got a ring from this 'mall' jewler and they took it out of the box and the stone fell out right on the table

My fiances father made the ring. He's a retired jeweler and the diamond was bought in the diamond district in NYC.

wherever she goes, just make sure she gets an appraisal elsewhere... I worked in a Garden City jewlery store(where i got my ring).. and while i was there i saw soo many people who came in to get a second appraisal, and there ring wasnt what it was suppose to be.. you have to be careful about it not being an 'enhanced diamond'and the 'table/depth/girdle ..etc.. those aspects
