I have to register soon, and I was thinking Macy's over Fortunoff's because they have sales, bonuses, etc. I particularly can't stand to be in either one for more than 5 minutes, but which did you chose and why?
I'm definitely gonna throw in Bed Bath and Beyond, 'cuz they have such cool stuff and FI likes it.

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
i went with amazon.com. they have an infinite selection to choose from. there may be free shipping also if the buyer search online for the coupon. i think amazon's also no tax.. not sure. i also can't stand being in macy's for 5 minutes also.. i have no patience when it comes to huge crowds... ppl get nasty.

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
First, Macy's, but I cancelled the registry and moved it to Fortunoff. The customer service at Macy's was horrible. And, Fortunoff will price match any sale prices offered elsewhere, and the completion coupon was more flexible. The staff is more helpful. Gift wrapping is FREE and it's done very nicely. I also thought the actual store was nicer, cleaner, nicer experience overall!

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
I just found out about a wonderful thing at Weddingchannel.com. You can set up your registry online through weddingchannel.com ( they are affliated with crate & barrel, Macys, Fortunoff, Bloomingdales, william - sonoma and a bunch more). And there is an option to chose a charity from a list they provide, and weddingchannel.com will donate to that charity (of your choice) anytime a gift is purchased on Weddingchannel.com.
I thought this was a wonderful idea..

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
Once I register, it will be at MAcy's Fortunoff and Crate and Barrel.
Rationales:
MACY's - nationwide access to all of my guests who may choose to shop either online or in person.
Fortunoff - a rite of passage in my family and selection is wide.
Crate and Barrel - I just like their stuff - doesnt look like everything else. They have great ceramic things that arent very formal. Sometimes I like that.

So far we have registered at Macy's. When we were there, the salespeple were really nice. I have bought gifts for other brides at Macys and really liked the service.

I registered at Fortunoffs. They truly have everything and treat you much better than Macy's. Everytime I go to Macy's I get a headache! Good luck and have fun whatever you decide.

I registered at Fortunoff. They have a larger selection in my opinion. I also did BB&B. I could stay in both of those stores for hours. I get a rush out of shopping, lol.

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
We just did Fortunoff two weeks ago and we're going to Crate and Barrel next week. No particular reason, which just really like the merchandise at both stores.

Fortunoff's and BB&B. I stayed away from Macy's because I heard too many horror stories about their registry problems.

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
OK - Back in college (10 years ago) I used to work for an off premise caterer that did a lot of business functions at Fortunoffs, and parties at the homes of the Fortunoff family. . . I swore I'd NEVER register at Fortunoffs because I thought the family was so mean . . . then it comes time to register and I'm all set to go to Macy's - I couldnt believe how unorganized they were, how poor their customer service was, etc.
So I ended up registering at Fortunoffs - despite what I thought of them 10 years ago, they run a great business and they know how to treat brides and grooms.
I'm still a little annoyed that I'm giving them business, but that's how it is.

It's a very wonderful thing that they are doing. I read about it several weeks ago and updated my wedding website to include that information. The unfortunate part was that my entire registry was already purchased before this came out...but I updated it for my shower.
I registered at Fortunoff- great customer service and selection...plus they are in NY and NJ (where most of my guests are coming from). Downfall- they can be a real pain when it comes to returns/ exchanges.
Registered at Williams Sonoma for a lot of stuff- we got it all (until I updated it). Beautiful stuff, great customer service & all over the country.
Also registered at Pottery Barn.

Re: Where did you register and why (Poll)
I think we are registering at Macy's. My parents live in the South, so I need someplace nationwide. On Sunday we are registering at Crate and Barrel (they are giving away free champagne flutes!).
