I envision an off white creamy satin dress with a french bustle. If anyone has this type of dress please send pics!!

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
I recommend Kleinfelds...pricey, but the staff knows what they are doing.

Try to go to a place that has a large selection and definitley try on things that you don't think you'll like - sometimes you get surprised!

I got my dress at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place - so far I have been very happy with their service.

It depends on the place. It doesn't hurt to call and find out.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
I went to a lot of places before I found my bridal shop and dress. I definitely recommend looking around. The dress I wound up buying is COMPLETELY different then what I envisioned originally. But it is the perfect dress for me. Robyn @ Moonlight Couture in Merrick actually picked out my dress for me. She took it out and said 'I know this is totally different from the others but I really want to see this dress on you' I tried it on and feel in love.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
I got mine from RK Bridal on 39th Street b/t 8th and 9th Aves.
They have a huge selection. However, it can be overwhelming. The best thing to do is look up designers and style numbers that you like. Then, go to the store and look for that. If you happen to find more in the process of looking, then great! That goes for all of the stores that you go to.
I was fortunate enough to get an attendant who was extrememly helpful. I didn't even pick my dress up initially, but she brought me a bunch of styles that would look good on me and that she saw I would like.
OH, and mine also is nothing that I pictured.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
I recommend spending some time on TheKnot.com. Look at the gowns. When you see the ones you like, bookmark them and check to see which salons carry your styles. Then, canvass LIW for opinions on the shops. You are a 2006 gal, so a little time investigating my help you in the long run. Also, TheKnot boards ..some gals are selling brand new dresses.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
thanks girls!
I can't wait to go - I have about a billion clippings of dresses I like by different designers. I think someplace like RK bridal would be good, but perhaps I should go to a smaller store first to get 1-on-1 and try on some designs that I might not have thought about.
Is there an RK bridal on LI or just in NYC.
FYI - I live near the Garden City train station.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
RK Bridal is in the Garment District (Manhattan). Around 39th street and 9th Ave. Definitely check them out. My MOH and I went there twice.

Re: Where should I go dress shopping?
Unfortunately there is only one in NYC, but like OctRo said, you should spend the time searching then go with the styles you liked. I had a millin clipping too, and my dress was not one of them!
You can tak LIRR to Penn Station (34th Street) then walk the 5 blocks and 1 avenue. It should only take you about 30-45 minutes.
I should warn though, it is very chaotic, best to go on a Sat. or Sun. morning.
