Okay, originally we wanted to do St. Lucia, and its still in our budget to go to the Regency for 7 days, but for some reason i'm not as into that anymore.. So i've been speaking with Travel Tom and here are our ideas for the HM so far.
1. 9 Day Norweigan Cruise Line cruise to the Southern Carribbean and it leaves out of Miami. It goes to Samana, DR; Tortola, Antigua, Barbados, and St. Lucia. We are at sea three days. If we did this one we would also stay in Miami for 2 days after.
2. 14 Day Norweigan Cruise Line cruise to the same ports as above, but also going to Grand Cayman and Cozumel
If we did the 9 day, we would get the suite, but if we did the 14 day we would do a balcony.
3 Costa Rica- Stays 7 days at the AI Paradisus hotel in the garden room.
4.Barbados- 7 days at the Hilton oceanview. This is not AI, but is pretty cheap enough as to where is evens out.
I keep changing my mind! FH isn't much help because he says it doesnt matter to him. He just doesnt want to be laying on a beach all day long. Thanks for all your opinions.
I'm personally leaning towards the 14 day cruise, cuz i feel its the most for out money.

Thanks for all the suggestions ladies. We looked into Royal Carribean, because thats the cruise line we really wanted to take, the one with the surfing and rock climbing. But we're not crazy about its ports of calls. I'm going to show FH the hotels Tom sent us, and hopefully we can make a decision.
hey meg would you mind maybe FMing me some fo the hotels Tom told you about? I have to give him a call sometime this week to talk about the HM since we have to reschedule. We were going to go to St. Lucias Sandals but now that we are going in dec it is almost $2000-3000 more for what we were getting in sept. But Fh is no help either so lol
good luck!
No problem

try the crown princess. Its a new ship, its first voyage out was may of 06. FH and i went on that and it is HUGE, its one of the biggest ships out there, not the biggest bc i think freedom of the seas is but its close. Its a beautiful ship and young crowd too. The ports are Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Turks and caicos, barbados.
We looked at princess.. I forgot why we werent going for it. I'll have to look at everything again with Brian tomorrow. I'm losing my mind going back and forth with everything by myself. I honestly didnt stress this much when it came to the RH

I'm also bias when it comes to cruises. Thats what we are doin for our and I absolutely love em!
I chose the 9 day but thats mostly because I wasn't crazy about Cozumel or GC.
Also a suite would totally rock!!!

I have cruised with Royal Carribean alot and I would go w/ the 14 day balcony.....that is more than enough for 2 people....we had a balcony on last rip it was great!!! Good Luck!! I think the suite is probably over priced for the amount of time you are really in there!!

Thanks for your input. The only reason why i would think a suite is worth it on the 14 day is because we are at sea for 5 days.

I don't know if you looked anywhere else for prices but you should definetely check out Cruisecompete.com
As nice as Tom was when we started looking, he couldn't compare to all the extra's we were quoted for our cruise.

So.. cruisecomplete had better prices than tom? Could Tom match the prices? I'll have to check them out. Thanks

Cruisecompete does just that it pits TA's against each other to give you the best discounts, mostly onboard offers..From what i've heard , depending on the cruise line, (i know specifically RC), anywhere you search the price HAS to be the same. I think It's some sort of non-compete type thing.
However, TA's can offer their own discounts and money back on board to 'co-erce' you to book with them. When we booked RC was running a special promotions AND the TA threw in money on top of it!
In our case for whatever reason Tom couldn't top our best deal.
No matter who you go with make sure that they guarantee that if the price of the cruise goes down, you get reimbursed! I think Tom does that but sometimes you need to mention it.

I was wondering about the price you pay for the cruise if the price goes down! Thanks for mentioning it. If we book a cruise, i'll make sure to question it.

NP....ours hasn't gone down at all It went up and recently started coming down. Then again we booked a little over a year before the cruise.
One of my friends went on a cruise in Nov and literally checked it EVERY day...but in the end his cruise went down and they deposited the difference in his onboard account. I'm not that compulsive, though there are still 5 months until the cruise.

I'm hoping whatever we book, the price goes down, so we can upgrade the room

Re: Where should we go on our HM
I would do the Costa Rica trip. You can ALWAYS do a cruise in the future. It's something most people do. I'd Say Costa Rica is totally different and the odds of you doing a trip like that again are slim compared to a cruise.
We wanted to do Costa Rica but the agent said it's just ending the rainy season so we are going to Aruba.
Costa Rica!!! Totally different!!! And cruises are a dime a dozen.
JMO!!!

Thanks. Thats what I was thinking also. The thing about the cruise though, is if we were to do a cruise again, we wouldnt be spending what we would now. So its still special. but i get what you are saying and I mentioned that to FH once before.

Anywhere you decide to go is going to be wonderful b/c you will be with your NEW HUSBAND!!!! (YIPPIE) So I don't think you can actually make a wrong decision!!!!! (except if you go over budget)

I know and thats what FH says about the whole HM planning. He doesnt care where we go because he'll be with me. BLAH BLAH BLAH But when I suggest somewhere he doesnt want to go its a whole other story
About the budget thing. I'm think if we were to do Costa Rica, i'd go over budget, because I dont want to just go for 7 days. Thats what is steering me away from the islands since its so short with our budget.

Re: Where should we go on our HM
Has the agent said if you do Costa Rica it's over budget. I'd tell him to try and keep us in budget and see what he comes up with. Maybe it won't be a 4 star hotel or maybe 10 days instead of 14. They can find a way. i would definitely ask them to come up with prices for every trip, staying within budget. Then look at each one and see whats the best for your money.
If you can only stay at a 2 start hotel in Costa Rica and the room is too important then you know that that isn't an option.

He gave us prices for Costa Rica for 7 nights. When you add in the average airfare it comes in a couple hundred under budget. If we stayed 10 night ( I went to the website) Its about 600 over budget. Not that big of a difference. I think I'll ask him to find other places in Costa Rica too.
