Hypothetically, if I were going to get FH a Rolex as a wedding gift....where would be a good place to buy it from?

I went to Good Old Gold in Massapequa when I was tossing around the idea for my FH. I nixed it by the way.

No specific reason...
Two for me:
The one I liked was $7K.
And the more I thought about it, the more it seemed to be an older gift - like something that should be worked for... Something to be rewarded with when you've succeeded - i.e. making $150,000 by the time you're 35, getting partner in your law firm, etc.

Ask around, your friends may have a jeweler that they trust., you can use. I went to my sister's guy who is now my guy lol.....
I mean you can go to Torneau and go bankrupt lol!

I just pictured Ru Paul standing in front of your FH saying 'giiiiiiirl, you betta work!' and dangling the Rolex in his face. LOL
And yes, $7,000 would make this impossible for me as well.

My BFF is a gemologist, and she hooked up FH with her first boss, who is a diamond wholesaler. That's how FH got my engagement ring, and we're considering that route for our wedding bands too. But, he is a diamond wholesaler so somehow I don't think he can hook it up for a rolex.

Re: Where to Buy a Rolex?
Disclaimer: I'm totally not suggesting this for your wedding gift...but just some info
My ghettoness is going to shine through here, my friend got a ridiculous TAG Heuer watch on Canal Street. Granted I felt like we were going to get killed or sold into some kind of sex trade, but it was an awesome watch.

Like a knockoff or a stolen one?

Definitely go to Good Old Gold in Massapequa! They are SO helpful there and very nice... They also had ones in the $3K range, but I didn't want to buy it just to buy it, you know? So I'm going to save and hopefully buy him a nice one for our 10 yr anniversary...
Just another thought too - Cartier has nice watches in the $1500-2000 range too. You still get a name brand with them too.

Thanks for the advice
Did you end up deciding on a gift for your FH?
And also, I read your post in one of the other threads about people giving you a hard time about getting married on a Friday. I'm just waiting for the same thing. Too bad our RH is AWESOME and anyone who doesn't come b/c it's a Friday is a JERK!

I'm trying to think of something really sweet and personal for him. If I think of something I'll let you know...
And the Friday thing - forget it - and *gasp* we're getting married in a church so that means the actual wedding starts at 4:30. The HORROR!
