where to live - apartments

so my fiance and i are currently living with my parents and commuting to the city for work. the commute and living situation are killing us and we were wondering if you girls had any suggestions for good places to look. we're in bay shore right now, so anything closer to the city would be WORNDERFUL. we're thinking about 1/2 hour closer and on a major lirr stop. any suggestions?

tia!

if you want to satay on LI and not move to queens lynbrook, valley stream, malverne, thoses areas closer to the boarder of queens are good because its so easy to catch the train. esp in Valley stream.

I agree!

I take the Auburndale stop on the LIRR and it comes by very often and it's like a 25 minute commute. The whole area has a Long Island feel, but is extremely close to the city.

Bayside and Douglaston are on the same line as my train.

Forest Hills, Woodside, Maspeth, all very close for commuting to the city.

Our lease is up and we are moving to our new home on the 20th of this month. We are in Lynbrook right now, walking distance to the LIRR in a two-family house. It's a great commute! (We're in South Lynbrook, near the E. Rockaway border)

Astoria Queens is a great place to live and like 10 mins into the city or Bayside Queens, the LIRR is right there and close to everything

i'm in mineola, and it's so convenient to get the the city. the trains run pretty often (for LIRR), and it's only 35 min to penn station. there are many apts that are walking distance to the railroad. i have about a 6 block walk every morning, but there are many much closer.

I just moved from Bayside to Fresh Meadows. I loved Bayside and we hope to move back there. If you go there FM me, my previous landlord and I are in court because hes crazy so I dont want you to move there.

I say Rockville Centre, it was the greatest commute 32 minutes on an express train into Penn! and it is really pretty there...

We just moved in April to Ft. Greene in brooklyn. its a GREAT time to get in as the neighborhood is definatley flipping. prices are low and new construction is everywhere. not to mention the beautiful beautiful old brownstones that are everywhere.
Check it out!

I am partial to Long Beach. You have the beach, great restaurants, and only a 50 minute commute to the city.

I'm not sure if you want to move to queens but we have a co-op in bayside and we really like our location, we're right near the LIRR, prefer to drive but can walk to it if we have to. FM me if you have any questions.
