We stayed at the 'all star' hotels, they have all star music, all star sports, and all star soemthing esle. They were cheap but very neat and clean and we loved it! Great bus transportation back and forth to all the amusements.

I have never been to Disney!
But my family goes a lot and they rent villas (with indoor pools) and they love it. My BF has been twice and stays in the 'moderate' resorts...she did the music and sports one and loved it. I think she booked online through Orbitz or Expedia.
Have fun!

The only options for a 'budget' are the All Star Resorts or Pop Century. They're considered part of the Animal Kingdom resort area, but they're pretty close to downtown disney as well. I thik Pop Centuy may be the closest of them to Downtown Disney, but I'm not sure. They have some kind of deal including food and tickets for 6 nights for $1500. That's pretty good! Disneyworld.com is a good place to go to book online. I've found their prices to be the best, provided you know what you're looking for. Mousesavers.com and allears.net have the latest coupon codes.
ETA The deal on the moderates is $506 per person for 4 nights at a moderate, park tickets and dining plan

Hey Allison! We just booked our flights to go on our anniversary too, Nov 2-8. We haven't booked hotels yet--from looking online it seemed like the Disney hotels, even the moderate ones, were $125-150 that time of year. We are looking into off-site ones with a shuttle to the parks. Let me know if you find any.

we stayed at the all star movies. the price was right and it was very clean and nice. and the bus transportation to the parks (with an extra hour on some days before the park opens to the public) is priceless!!! we'll never stay off disney property just for the bus transportation. fh and i had an awesome time!
