we don't live together right now... but live about 10 minutes apart... centereach/patchogue........

We are planning on getting an apartment together in suffolk county for the first year.. and then doing our DAMNEDEST to AFFORD A HOUSE ON LONG ISLAND....

This one is tough for me. I often get really upset about it. We currently live in MD, just minutes away from future in laws. I hate it. I want to be near MY family. I am extremely close to my mom and my sister. After I graduated college ('05) I stayed here to be with FH till he graduated which was supposed to be '06 but turned into '07 and now it is '08 and I AM STILL HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! I miss my Mommy and my sister so much. I want to be near them when we start having children and raising a family. I hate being so far away from them. So FH and I have decided that somewhere between October of '08 and October of '09 we will be MOVING FAR AWAY FROM MD. We are thinking Pennsylvania area. It is central between both families and the cost of living is much cheaper there than in NY. We just need to pray that we both find jobs that are good $$ there. Really FH needs to find a job before we go and hopefully his company will pay moving expenses. He is a biologist so that is our main income. I am a paralegal and there are attorneys everywhere who need good help so I could likely find something after we relocate. But anyway...I just want to be closer to my Mommy, she is getting older and we have no idea how long she will be with us. My sister is planning to start trying to get pregnant this fall...I don't want to be 5.5 hours away for all of this...I'm sorry this is so long. This is just a tough matter for me! Right now FH and I live at home with our parents. When we get married, we are living together in FH's parents house. They have a HUGE apartment in their basement. Best part is, we are not paying rent! They want us to save b/c we are buying their house in two years for HALF of what it's worth. I can't wait!!!!! FH's parents had a beautiful house built in Myrtle Beach where they plan to retire.

that must be tough. my younger sister moved to Seattle 2 yeras ago and I miss her a lot. Hang in there and maybe the Pennsylvania option will become a reality

FH & I own a co-op together in Nassau. We will probably stay here for another few years before we start looking for a house. It was a stipulation of our mtg that we couldn't sell the co-op for 7 years but I think we can sublease after 5. We are going on our 3rd year now so 2 more to go before we can start looking for a house

We both live at home. I bought a 2 family house 1.5 years ago in Queens, so after the wedding I am booting out one of my tenants and we are moving in to one of the apartments. We plan on using the wedding gift $$$ to open up his MMA school. Hopefully we should start seeing a return / profit after 1 or 2 years. By then I should already be a principal so we should be VERY Ok as far as $$$ goes. After that we will save, save, save and either buy a house in LI, or a 2 bedroom duplex in Brooklyn or Queens.

We live together and will stay at this house after we get married. We love the area and the schools are suppose to be really good schools. If anything, we may buy something bigger and closer to the water down the road, but not for a while. The house we have is big enough for a family, so no rush there. It's so funny, I never thought I'd live in Suffolk, but I love it!!! Especially where we live.

We live in Manhattan right now renting from my FH's uncle a little below market. We may have to move out soon after the wedding or they might let us stay one more year. I have no idea where we are going to end up. Everytime I bring it up FH changes the subject. My family is from Westchester where I grew up and his is from LI where his brother and sister live and plan to stay. I go home a lot more to westchester to see my family then he does to his. I also have a 1.5 year old neice who I like seeing as much as I can. Neither of our mom's will drive over the bridge from LI to Westchester. I'm affraid I won't see my family much if we move to LI but I also feel bad making him move somewhere he doesn't want to. We both work in Manhattan and the commute in from westchester (depending on where we move) is a lot faster then from LI. Also, I'm much closer with my mom and I know she will be there 100% when I have kids, while his said before they want to enjoy themseleves when they retire and travel. Any advice??? :(

i live with my FH and my son in a 3 bedroom apt in maspeth queens we def do not plan on moving because we moved last year and that was a nightmare plus i like this neighborhood and my parents are 5 min away and my in laws are 5 min away (theres always a babysitter close by which i love ) but later on in the future my parents might give us their house in ridgewood because they want to move to FL

We live in a co-op and love it. We're staying where we are until after the wedding. Its one less stress that we have to worry about. Once the wedding is over we're going to start seriously looking for a house.

I rent a house with my sister and another girl in Mineola and FH still lives at home. I want to just rent an apartment for a year or so but FH wants to buy a condo right away so we'll see what happens.

We'll probably end up somewhere near Mineola or Roslyn - there are a few condos we loved in Roslyn and then I could practically walk to work!

We live in Bellmore and we love it but we probably will move out east since it's more affordable to buy a house out there and it has great land!

immediately after the wedding we are staying in our current apartment. we just renewed the lease for another year (while i finish law school)

if we move to NY, we will probably get an apartment in the city because I'll be working long hours and wont want the commute.

If we decide to stay here, we will start house-hunting next year.

We'll have decided on our future location by Nov 1st, probably sooner

currently, i live with my parents in brooklyn and fh lives with his parents in rockaway beach. We hope to buy a house or a condo before the wedding, but with the prices right now we might end up living in a shoe box

OMG, where do you live in Buffalo? I used to live there and I moved to LI almost 3 years ago because this is where FH is from. We made the move after we both graduated college. Are you from Buffalo?
