Which are the most upscale Photographers?

If money is no object, who are the BEST wedding photographers? Who would you say are just the tip of the top, best shooting, best printing, etc etc.

I love mine - Michael Cody (www.michaelcody.com). His prices are pretty high, but totally worth it in my opinion. We are also not getting albums in order to save some money...

These are some of the ones I see talked about as being good and/or expensive. I need some ideas. I am seriously the most picky person when it comes to photo, and I won't be happy unless it's really, really good. I'm looking for a good mix of traditional and candid and photjournalistic images.

I think that franklin square is amazing...although they were more than we wanted to spend they are great..had our engagement photos & couldn't be happier. Check them out fsphoto.com.

I think alot peopel don't know about them b/c they don't advertise alot but it is a family run business & they do all digital work and print thier own pictures the only thing that is shipped off is to assemble the book once all pcitures are printed. They do all editing on site to for the video. I found them to be amazing so far & they came highly recommended by other people.

I used Perceptions and am so thrilled with our pictures.

From the ones you listed, I love the work of Imagine and Creative Compositions. I also really like what I've seen from Verdi.

According to what you said - i think you need to make a list of photographers and go meet each one. Obviously we all are going to recommend whoever we have booked - but in addition to loving the photography you need to click with the photographer! That really is key. I only saw two photographers, Creative Compositions and Verdi - both comparable in prices so i wasnt looking for cheaper - i was making sure that the person that woudl shoot my wedding was someone that made me feel comfortable and made me calm and natural. We booked Creative because we really just clicked with our photographer - we didnt feel rushed or pressured and just felt like ourselves when we were with him.
With that said - i must say that my proofs are gorgeous!! I personally dont like traditional pictures but i had to have some since DH has a large family. But we really do have a great mix all different types of pics that our photographer took.

All in all - take the recommendations and find out which one works best for you. You cannot book a photographer on recommendation alone - you have to go meet them.

I just need to narrow down my list of whom to look at. I would defintiely never book w/o meeting the photographer, which is why I really didn't like Proline when I visited them!

We really liked Artisan, but I want to keep looking!

FH wants to look at FS photo this weekend. We really like that they print their own stuff and we've heard they're excellent AND they're about 2 minutes from FH's place...so I want to make at least 1 more appointment for this weekend. I'm trying to make sure I really get to see who the really sort of upscale people are. We'd like to stay under $7000 for photo and video combined, but we COULD go up to $10K if the work is really really worth it.

I'm an amateur photographer myself, and it's a passion of mine..so I wold NEVER go by recommendationa lone. i like someone who can talk to me about the process and really answer my questions, which is another reason I loved artisan and hated proline

Here was my list of more 'upscale' photographers:

Willi Wong
Cappy Hotchkiss
Jeffrey Volk
Raquel Reis

They all shoot mostly photojournalistic style. I just love black and white photos, espeically the ones that have that grainer look.

I like grain too. In my personal printing I always use at least 3.5 filter. And if the negative is really crisp, and a filter wold make it too contrasty I might split filter print it to get the grain. But I don't want that for my wedding photos. One of the photographers showed me a book with a bride who loved grain. I think he used 1600 film for the whole thing....

The events manager where I am getting married recommended Phillipe Cheng. His work looks awesome, but he STARTS at $12,000!

I am really bad because I will look at a photo I think is bad and be like 'ummm..why is this...blah blah'

Ok, so if you were aphoto major and you picked B rett M atthews, I'm going to look at them. I'm SO picky.

We went to Glenmar studio and I was like there are cable wires in the backround. MIKE WAS LIKE WHAT ARE YOU SMOKING!!! Position me so you don't see that sh!t you know.
