I know a lot of people buy a home before they get married.
Which did you do?
House first? Wedding first? New house and wedding at same time?
Our wedding is 4 months away. Trying to house hunt while finishing up wedding planning is stressful!
Anyone else in the same boat?

We got engaged, closed on our house in May, gutted it completely, Finally finished and moved in first week of September, wedding was October 21..we were insane to do that, it was so stressful.
Get married first, you can always use the $$ you get from the wedding as a nice down payment

We will be living in a condo together after the wedding, then will upgrade to a house in about 3 years right around the time that we intend to start making

House came first. I refused to even consider having a 'wedding' until we owned a house. So we bought the house in April '06, love it and will be getting married in May '07.

We just bought a townhouse and close in two weeks!! We are getting married in Sept. It was a lot of paperwork and phone calls but FH has been great and doing most of the leg work. Good luck on your home search!

Wedding first for us. We'll probably buy a house within six months of the wedding date. Planning the wedding and searching for a house at the same time would be way too much for us, seeing as we both commute to the city and work long hours!

We purchased our home in June 2005 and got married in October 05...it was sooooo stressful, I don't think I would do it that way again...There were quite a few times where I thought I was going to lose it! =)

I can't even imagine when the heck we'll have enough money for a down payment on a house....feels so far away!

We bought a condo November Got married in August Closing on our house next week!!!

House (well co-op) and I am glad we did. We could never afford a place with these prices now.
it was either get married three years ago and rent or buy and wait to get married.

We bought our home in December 2004...engaged one year later and married nine months after..using the wedding $$$ we received to put a 2nd story on our house..construction starts in the spring...have to fill up the new bedrooms!!!!

We closed on our house Sept 29th, 2005, got engaged on October 28th, 2005, and we are getting married 7/7/07. Kevin said he's never seen so much money leave his bank account at once!

ummmm...got married, got a house 6 years later.
4 years later got divorced, KEPT the house (and the kids, and a whole lot of his paycheck )
A few years later....got engaged, getting married, and staying in my beautiful house!
