Which is the best David's Bridal.... or anothe place??

HELP!!!

Ok.. so I want to go to David's Bridal for shoes... and also to look at a BM dress I found online (and I'll look at bags and jewelry as well - I figure accessories can't be so bad there right??).

Those of you that have gone to David's Bridal... what, in your opinion is the best on to go to? Alteration wise, Customer Service wise, crowd wise, and quality wise.

ANY opinions are GREATLY appreciated... negative or positive.

THANKS BRIDES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you thank you thank you!!! Is the one in Westbury the same as the one on Old Country Road? I'm not too swift with directions and locations. We use GPS everywhere we go!!!! HAHA!

If we were to purchase the BM dresses there... where can we take the dresses for alterations?

Anyone else have any opinions on different David's Bridals??

The absolute BEST DB I have ever been too is the one in Yonkers... the girls there will go out of their way to help you and get you what you need. The alterations woman - Angela there is the BEST and so sweet

Hey Kerri. I went to the one on 48th in LIC and it was pretty good. I didnt buy anything from them, but tried on like 7 dresses and the lady was super nice.

So, I liked them!

You couldn't pay me enough to set foot into the Westbury one, but the one in Lake Grove seems much better even though it's a drive for me.

I had a not-so-great experience at the Westbury one ... but we just went shopping for my friend's BM dresses at the one in the city and I have no complaints (surprisingly!). Don't know if that is viable for you, but if it is, I suggest it!

None of them!! Run, run as fast as you can away from DB!! Their low prices are not worth the rude customer service and the all around hassle.

Ive dealt with Westbury, one in AZ and another in Colorado

I've only gone to Lake Grove...they're alright. No great shakes, but not as bad as some horror stories I've heard.

Re: Which is the best David's Bridal.... or anothe place??

My girls have their heart set on dresses from there so we're using lake grove since they seemed to be better but even if they were willing to fix what they did to my gown, I wouldn't go back to Westbury. When I picked up my gown it was broken (snapped eyehooks) and had a small stain and that was not how it was when I left it to be cleaned and pressed (which was supposed to take one week, not six. They are rude and abraisive and then they said 'well you took a floor model' I didn't get a discount for taking a dress that was there and it did not have missing eye hooks when I tried it on and paid! The manager there is a rude old hag and every time I have been there in alterations there are hysterical brides for one reason or another and they are always making excuses and saying it's the bride's fault! She's such a ...number of words I can't use here! I told lake grove and they were horrified and they promised we'd have no issue with the 3 bm dresses. And the service does stink there, everyone's right about that.

I agree. My sister had a bad experience from the one in Yonkers and I had a bad one yesterday in Florida. I had to call and report the lady today. I posted it yesterday.

to be honest none of them have good customer service ive been to westbury, long island city, brooklyn and they all suck. If your just going to get shoes your fine but i wouldnt go beyond that.

I have only gone to the Westbury one and will not go back. If I find a dress they carry that I would like to try on, I will drive elsewhere. I was given this woman who apparently hadn't eaten lunch or dinner and was hungry and that's all I heard about. My sister actually went to the racks and picked out dresses for me to try on that she thought would be good. After a few dresses, I was told that that's enough and that I need to make a decision because I can't try too many on...so I guess you can tell what my decision was...never to go back! I now see dresses on the website that I probably would have considered trying on, but not going back to that one. The funny thing is that another girl was there and was practically given the royal treatment, it seemed. I guess I just wasn't as important!

Re: Which is the best David's Bridal.... or anothe place??

Omg,I totally second seawedding. I had so many problems with DB in Westbury ..had no dress or veil in March, because the ones they sent were defects AND the worst problem was that when I initially called in August before shopping in DB I specifically asked them if I am buying a new ordered dress or if these were off the rack. Two seperate phone calls I was told that they order me new as long as they have enough time .My FMIL also questioned the same before ordering and was told the same thing. Well that is a lie because there is no guarantee of that. They ordered my cousin/MOH a dress in Feb.It came in in 2 weeks. When we pick it up they try to just give her the dress and she is like-'uh,no I want to try it on' Good thing b/c it looked like it was crumpled in a ball on someone's floor. Then she looks at the bust and it was obviously tacked at one time and the tacking was cut,but they never removed the threads and the buttons are hanging off in the back.I speak to the nasty old hag(great term b/c it has to be the same one ,b/c the term fits)She tells me it was shipped from another store.I flip out and tell her what I was told on 2 seperate phone calls. She tells me I am wrong and her exact words are 'Why do you think we are so cheap ,we are off the rack'Then she proceeds to tell me that if I go to Macy's to buy any dress or blouse , I am buying off the rack.I tell her that I thought they are so cheap because they have a factory that makes the same dresses in huge quatity and they dont get specially sized or orderd.I also say in answer to her everything is off the rack tirade that if I go to a bridal shop or boutique I wouldve gotten a brand new dress not off the rack and she says 'well you shouldve ordered from a boutique'no lie-exact quote. Now I am fuming and contact corporate customer service.I am sorry but $135 dollars for a used BM dress(in this economy) and this aggrevation and lies isnt cheap when I could have had the girls go to a discount bridal shop and ordered something for $150-180 dollars in a BM dress that would be brand factory new-guaranteed.This is in March.I am then dealing with a woman in corporate who I want to guarantee a new dress for my cousin. She said she will, then calls me back and says it is back ordered. It finally arrives in May after many panic attacks and phone calls. She gets alterations to squeeze my cousin in 2 weeks ago for alterations. We are at their mercy and I don't know any other tailors that I trust.
When we go,my cousin says it is too long in the back and she is tripping on it.The woman tells her that it is perfect and that it will go up once cut.We are told to wait a week and a half to pick up and I am freaking out,but we do.Monday we go and guess what-the hem is too long and she is tripping on the back AND even though I wrote all over the receipt to save the extra material(like 4 inches worth) there is no material saved. My florist has been waiting on this all month. The real gem was the front hem is crooked and this is pointed out to us from another customer.Very long story short is that yesterday my cousin picks up the dress. She says it is ok ,but I have a feeling she is just dealing with it because my wedding is Sunday.
My mom dealt with Lake Grove and liked them and I actually did my alterations there only because I went to 2 independant seamstresses who couldnt get the bustle right on my gown. All I can say is that Elsie the manager there was fantastic with me and very classy and professional -even though I bridezilla-ed on her because of the poor customer service I had received in Westbury. (Still feel terrible about that-because it isnt her fault what the other place did)Rebecca in alterations was fantastic too!She made my gown the gown of my dreams.Plus last week when I was there I heard them tell a new customer'Please be very careful because any dress you touch will be the dress that you or another bride will be buying as their wedding dress'so they are honest too.Sorry so long but I just want you to know from my tears /stress what Westbury is all about. Good luck with your shopping

Definitely the Westbury/Source Mall one, but it's a NIGHTMARE on weekends. Anytime during the week even evenings are fine, but never Friday night, Saturday anytime or Sunday anytime.

The Westbury DB doesn't have great CS but I went with my girls and they grabbed up dresses for me. My BMs had no complaints when ordering their dresses and I had zero issues concerning my dress and alterations. I guess it all depends on when you go and who you go with.

Engaged in Arube 2007 - Please be very careful because any dress you touch will be the dress that you or another bride will be buying as their wedding dress'so they are honest too

ARE YOU F'N SERIOUS?!?!?!?! I went to DB when I was looking for my dress... we went to the one on LI near the mall (roosevelt), I think that might of been Westbury. I ended up walking out on them.... but what I'm more shocked at... is THE DRESSES THAT I TRIED ON ARE THE ACTUAL DRESS THAT THE BRIDE WOULD BUY???? I thought they ordered the dress. That's insane. Some of those dresses were ruined!!!!

In any case...
is the one in Yonkers the same as Lake Grove? Where is Lake Grove? I have NO sense of direction and if you spin me in a circle... i'm lost!!!!

I really just want to check out BM dresses because they aren't so expensive. And shoes! I have my dress thankfully!!!

Thanks for all your suggestions and stories ladies!!! I appreciate them all!!!!!
