Which scenario would you prefer?

Which scenario would you prefer?

Scenario A:
Getting married on a Saturday night in late November. Church is at 3:15PM. Cocktail hour starts at 7PM. You get out of church and are all finished by 4:15 but it is dark by 4:30 so you basically have no outdoor pictures in daylight. Your reception hall has a gorgeous interior for photos, but still, there are no outside daylight shots. The weather may or may not be cooperative anyway.

Scenario B:
Getting married on a Saturday night in late November. Church is at 1:45PM. Cocktail hour starts at 7PM. You get out of church and are all finished by 2:45PM. You have ample time to go to a garden for outdoor pics in daylight. So now you are all done with pics and still have hours to kill before the Cocktail hour even begins. The weather may or may not be cooperative anyway. Your photographer leaves the reception an hour before it ends because you refuse to pay overtime charges.

Which would you prefer?

Some questions that come to mind? What do you do with all those hours in between. The flow of the day just seems so off in Scenario B. I feel like I would look all busted by the time I even got to cocktail hour and the Bridal Party probably will be exhausted already. On the other hand, how can I not have any outside daytime shots with my new hubby? And seeing him before the ceremony is not a consideration for me. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

We have a huge gap between ceremony and cocktail hour. Many of your guest may or may not stick around for the cocktail hour; especially, if the weather is bad. Can you move the cocktail up some? Just a friendly observation.

our wedding is in nov also. church starts at 3;30, figure it ends at 4;30 ( we are having a mass), so it may or may not be dark at that time. if we get a few shots of eveybody outside, i'll be happy. i would go with a later ceremony, this way you woun't be exhaused by the time the ch rolls around.

Re: I need your opinions on two different scenarios PLEASE!

for me personally, the flow of the day was very important. i don't want my guests to have to twiddle their thumbs for a few hours so i can take pictures. i also am not a big fan of posed pictures so allotting a few hours would be pointless for me...

we are having a 2:00 ceremony and 4:00 cocktail hour with a 30-40 minute drive in between. our day/posed pictures will consist of 15-20 minutes at the church and then we will scoot off to the reception with everyone else.

another option for you would be to take pictures outside before the ceremony. i personally don't want to do that, but i know many people do...

i would pick Scenario A

Definately senario A- I think nightime pics are more dramatic anyway. People tend to squint in the daylight anyhow, lol

Re: Which scenario would you prefer?

Defnitely scenario A...if your guests have sooo much time between the church and reception they may not go to the church...also in November it may bea little too chilly to do outdoor pics anyway, and if your reception has a beautiful interior...well I feel your decision is made!!!!!!

Good luck!

I would go with B. Because I am greedy and I want pictures to be as nice as possible.

My family will get ready in between for the reception.

It seems like the main thing in both scenerio is daylight pics... Just one question... does it have to be in November? If it's only a month earlier you get about two extra hours (daylight savings starts late Oct) before the sunsets. Just a friendly suggestion.

I would go with A. You may not be able to get many daytime pics of you and hubby, but I am sure you will get beautiful indoor ones. If it rained you would have the same issue. I think the flow is more important and the fact that your guests don't have to sit around idle for awhile. Plus you will have outdoor pics of you and then you and hubby at the church.

I would do B- the earlier the better for daylight.

Re: Which scenario would you prefer?

I would go with A, just for the flow of things... We are getting married in mid-November but I am perfectly content taking pictures inside of our hall because its beautiful... The photographer also said he could still take pictures outside (there are some outdoor features, a gazebo, waterfall, etc) but obviously the water wouldn't be seen very easily :)

Good luck with your decision!

Re: Which scenario would you prefer?

I know, it's tough...but many people don't take outside shots - including us and we got married in June daylight! Your photos will be beautiful and just my opinion, the less time for people to wait around, the better. Good luck.

we are doing the second one... we originally had the first time but i became too concerned with the light...

P.S. it looks like we have the same church and priest

Re: Which scenario would you prefer?

I would go with B. U have to do what will make u happy. If u can't live without those pics(and I can't blame u)then u have to go with B. I've been to weddings that had a gap between the ceremony and the reception and as a guest u make due. Unfrotunately alot of people might not come to the ceremony and just come to the reception.

Re: Which scenario would you prefer?

Is it possible for you to visit the carltun during a night time affair and see how lit up the outside area is? Or look through some of the carltuns or even your photographers (if he has taken pictures there before) sample photo albums to get an idea of what outside pictures would look like around that month and time?
