Whish gown designers have the highest quality fabric./workmanship?
Since maagzines can be so decieving, do you know which desingers use real silk and satin rahter than polyester blends and use hand beading rather than appliques? thanks! and price ranges too, thanks!

I personally think that Reem Acra's dresses are amazing. When I went to her salon, I was blown away by the quality and detail of the dresses. It is amazing what people can do to make a garment. I fell in love with them.. They can be expensive- but the quality is very high.

I'm getting mine from Stephen Yearick. I know he does hand beading, I'm not too sure about the blends question. When I get home I'll check on what type of material it is.

I know! Reem Acra resses just seem to have their own glow and shimmer about them. What is the price range?

When I got my gown, I spent a few days touching and smelling the gown - it feels so rich and lush, and it smells divine!! I know I'm crazy and probably got it dirty but I couldn't help myself!

I got a stephen yearick too, his dresse are hand beaded, and there isn't minimal beading on his dresses...most of his dresses are extremely intricate..and everything is built to your measurements, so its almost custom made basically....but quality runs the gamut...Vera Wang, and Badgley Mischka, but then you're spending a lot of money especially for a Badgley Mischka
Edited to say that my dress was around 3500 and some of his dresses are more expensive, some less....his price range is 2-5k

She has a lower priced line that starts at like 2900 and the other dresses start at like 3700.. I am sure her most expensive dress is 10K+

Quality silk is extremely expensive so any dress costing less than say $2K (just picking a number) is probably made of poly or a blend.
I think the hand beading is more of a function of how big the manufacter is and how much they customize. If a designer won't customize your dress, that is probably a sign that they send out some of the work. Smaller labels make all their gowns in their own studio so its more of a guarantee.
Most of the high end gowns do trunk shows where you can meet the designer face to face. You can ask him/her about the work and materials in each gown.
Edited to add: My gown was an Anne Barge and I loved it. (and im a total fabric snob)

I'm partial to Amsale (biased, mine is an Amsale) for her silks. (again, very expensive- mine was $4200, and has no beading) I didn't want any beadwork though- I think that the Kenneth Pool line is supposed to have really good beadwork.

ines di santo - are all silk from italy - a lot of hand embroidary in her dresses - she also prices the dresses based on how much time it takes to make so they range from $3,000 - about $8,000

Kenneth Pool used to work for Amsale, Reem Acra. Now he has his own line. High quality dresses. Expensive, but you get fwhat you pay for......
