White vs. Ivory

Hey ladies, I need your help. So I told the FH I don't plan to get a white wedding gown and leaning towards off white or ivory. He's not too keen on that idea. He feels I should wear white because its classic and traditional. I have tried on white dresses and I just didn't like how the color looks on me and I prefer ivory. Can u tell me if I have to wear white? Also, what color are your dresses?

You can wear any color! My friend wore red, I've seen black, blush, and platinum too. I am wearing ivory. I kind of wanted to do blush though.

I don't have my dress yet but very few people can pull off stark white. And most ivory dresses look more white than anything anyway. So I will probably get ivory.

My dress is ivory...I looked so weird in stark white dresses! Go with what you want, he probably won't even notice!

My dress is ivory but it really is more off-white. I think stark white would have looked ridiculous on me. Go with what you want! Like Chaz said, he probably won't notice.

This.
Also, when he goes for tuxedo he needs to get an off-white shirt. If he gets a white shirt your dress will look dirty next to his shirt and this is the only way it would be noticeable.

I'm wearing ivory and unless I told a man the color was called ivory they would never know, I'm sure your FH wouldn't notice and won't care with how beautiful you're going to look on your wedding day!!

Crashing! My FH was the same way when I told him I wasn't planning on wearing white. I'm pretty pale and even my bridal attendant when I went dress shopping told me that white may wash me out. My dress is a Maggie Sotterro in ivory and I love it. It still looks white - just not that bright white. Pics are in my album to help you get an idea.

Same here. My Maggie Sottero is Ivory but I would have thought it was White. When they showed me what White looked like, it was almost too white. Pics in my album also show my Ivory dress. Maybe you just need to explain to FH that Ivory still looks like white

Honestly, I don't think very many brides ever get white anymore, it's almost always ivory (or some variation). I agree with the other girls, it's very unlikely that's he'd be able to tell it's ivory, unless you had bright white right next to it. Good luck!!

White vs. Ivory

I bet if you ordered ivory as opposed to white your FH wouldn't really know the difference. Ivory is white-ish...it's not like it's a completely different color. I think the majority of brides goes with what compliments their skin tone. I would say order what you feel the most comfortable in and I bet your FH will think you're beautiful on your wedding day!

Edited b/c I asked my FH the difference between white and ivory and his response was 'what? aren't they both white?' lol

I agree with this! And when you compare the two next to each other the bright white sometimes can look like it has a blue hue to it.

I thought my dress was white and it turns out it is Ivory. You can BARELY tell it isn't white. When I tried on ones that were true white it looked almost cheap to me...

White vs. Ivory

With our the two being right next to each other it's hard to tell that ivory isn't white.. Just refer to it as 'soft white' and FH probably won't know the differance lol. I thibk I'm going for a champagne color because I know it's very flattering on my skin tone.

I'm fairly certain, Ivory, cream, off white, ecru, beige all fall under the category of WHITE in mens head...

And mine too!!! It's all different shades of white I don't get the big deal! I remember saying something like 'can't wait to wear a white dress' and someone was like 'you're going to wear WHITE?!?!?!... Not ivory?!' Lol. I was like idk, isn't it all basically the same?
