Did anyone go with you the first time you looked at venues? My mom is like a world class negotiator and since my parents will be paying for the wedding anyway, I want her with us when we are making up contracts, etc. because she is the best at getting things thrown in for free. She asked if we wanted her with us during the first round of looking though and I'm not sure. What did you do?
We went to look at most of them on our own. However, the one we ended up booking my FMIL is good friends with the owner's wife, so we brought both our moms to check it out together. But since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we sat down and went over the contracts on our own!
I took my sister, she's my go to in this whole process.
The first round it was just FH & I. Once we decided which venue we really wanted, we went back with my mom & sister to get their opinions. We are paying for everything ourselves, but I think if my parents were paying they would've wanted to be there for everything.
I learned from the best,my mom the master negotiator lol the difference is my mom comes on to strong in that so it was just me and my FH. Plus we are paying the whole thing so I want control over everything.
We visited two venues in one day. The first we went on our own and the second we took FH's cousin because she is the one who set up the appt for us since she knows the owners. We ended up going back the following week to book the second venue and took his cousin and my parents with us.
It was just FH and I and FH was the one that decided on our venue =)

Me myself and I ..then I brought FH but I don't recommend that..you should both go together..it's better
Some of them I went by myself and some I took FH...If I really liked one I took my parents to check it out with me.

First go around it was just the two of us. When we started doing tastings we brought his mom, my grandmother and my mom. When we did negotiations we brought my mom, but the final visit was just us again.
The first time was with my fiancé and my sister. My mom joined us after a few times after. When we went to see Chateau Briand (the 9th venue we saw) it was just my FH and me. Then when we went back two days later to sign the contract, I brought my mom. My dad was like 'I don't have to see it, I trust you' lol
It was just the FH and I for both viewings. Our parents didn't see the venue until the food tasting.
LOL everyone on this site warned me not to bring extras but I look really young so I went with my mom, FMIL, grandmother, FH and my daughter. LOL everyone wanted to be apart of our wedding it's the first really big wedding in years.
My mom went with us to all of them (she and my dad were paying) and my husbands mom came to some. My husband and I always went together to see them.
We brought our parents. When we were ready to book we just brought my father-in-law for back up.
FH and I went alone first then brought our parents for a second viewing at our top two places before we made a decision.
FH and I went by ourselves and booked by ourselves. My mom ended up seeing the venue at a bridal showcase we went to. FH's parents will see it when we have dinner there in a few months.
