I spoke to my dad this morning about hawaii (where my HM is) ...
Dad: hopefully you'll see that special bird that lives in hawaii Me: what special bird? Dad: i don't remember what it's called Me: well, why is it special? Dad: i don't remember that either.
so does anyone know what the f- my dad is talking about? did he just make something up?

I don't know what he is talking about...
however, hawaii is a huge spot for bird-watching. there are all sorts of birds... I'm not sure what makes one 'special' per say. I think the official Hawaiian bird is the Nene which is special because it is native to hawaii and is actually a goose. or gooselike. not technically sure.
thats all i can think of really. but hawaii has an array of rare and endangered birds. Nothing I remember that stands out in particular. let me know if you find out... im curious lol

the only thing I can think of the flower the bird of paradise...maybe he is referring to that!! LOL Dads are so cute! LOL
