Who dislikes their FMIL?

I just want some emotional support.

I used to say I hated her. Now I toned it down and say dislike. It has been so difficult to get a guest list from her.

We do not want an approximate number anymore. We want NAMES!!

What has your FMIL done that has annoyed you most?

My list keeps growing and growing.

I think my FMIL will be OK... but we're still in the very beginning stages of planning... time will tell...

That's exactly how I feel about mine!! I love her and dislike her at the same time. She's very friendly, and I can talk to her about things, except the wedding. When it comes to the wedding she is a big fat PITA! She has all these super expensive ideas for the ceremony but will NOT pay for these things. And she makes us feel bad about our more economical ideas. And she also makes us feel bad because we are having what she thinks is a more 'traditional' wedding (not writing our own vows, going to Hawaii on our vacation). AND the ONE THING she agreed to pay for, the rehearsal dinner, she wants to be cheap about - she told me that she wants to just go bowling and have pizza, and my brother and bridesmaids can't bring dates!!! I can go on and on...
But other than that she's a lovely woman

she has added numerous names to the guest list after giving to me months ago! we dont have room for these people and she just keeps adding my fh just lays back and says its ok they wont come! and now the latest i ask her for addresses of some final people and she gives me all but two and then gives me a phone number to call them for the addresses! COULD U IMAGINE! 'hi u dont know me bc ur distant relatives of my fh but can i have ur address for the guest list' !!!!!!!!! im so freakin aggravated lately that i just want it to come and enjoy my day and put this $hit behind me

well said NY031978, I cant say much because I know people on here that know my FMIL. I wish I could vent because man oh man have I got great storys to tell lol FM if you want to hear some lol

my FMIL and FFIL are from England. moved here 15 years ago. They are pretty much clueless in the whole american wedding thing and it gets alittle frustrated and they have not offered to help with the costs at all for the wedding. wait I lied they are having the RD for us and we are very appreciative about that but my parents are paying andmy mom just got laid off after working for Huntington Hospital for 35 years so a little help would be nice but no...

Depends on the day...most days she is really a great lady but sometimes she just does the craziest stuff! Like just entirely unreliable, kind of like how a teenager flakes out on things. It's nuts but she has a lot of stress in her life so I try to be understanding but it's definitely getting annoying. I just try to stay away now.

I LOVE my FMIL. She's really great. The only time I started to get annoyed was when she twice asked FH about making our bridal party even. She thought 'It would bother me when I saw the pictures.'

I would never be combative to my FMIL. She is the type that likes drama and problems. I won't give her one. I'm always sweet to her and its killing her that I won't start a battle. Besides it makes her look like the bad guy. I get all the sympathy from my FI. I actually do like her and she LIVES in RI so I don't SEE her to OFTEN.

I think EVERYBODY has issues with their FMILs, big or small... Noone is perfect like our own mothers...

Sadly, I do. She has been very hurtful to me in this whole process and as a result I currently have no interest in having a relationship with her at all. The latest thing she did: booked our RD at the restaurant we had the lunch at after my grandfather's funeral...despite FH telling her numerous times how much it would upsetme.
