We had a bbq the October before our wedding. My parents rented tents and heaters and had the food catered.

Us too and I find them unnecessary. Nobody in my family ever did one. We still got gifts regardless. If you look in my mothers house in my old closet, you would think we looted LENOX!

we did, but it wasnt a traditional party. It was very small, no gifts, and it was more for both sets of parents and grandparents to get to know each other better. I let my dad and his gf plan it cuz they begged me. In hindsight, I should have planned it.

We had one in April. We rented out a beautiful room in a restaurant and invited only family. It was one on the best times i ever had.

we didn't but I wish we did. I wanted a jack and jill shower so FH would be involed but that didn't happen.

My FMIL and FFIL threw us a great party. In my family, it's not really common to have an e-party but FH's family is pretty big on it. Their e-parties get huge. My FMIL toned down the event to be respectful towards my family. It was so nice of them and the party was great. It was at a local (very good) Italian restaurant and we had a great time.

I had mine last June because our friends and family never really met together. To our big shock it went well. (No one died) It was our first family event that WE HOSTED. It was kinda nice.

I am having my e-party in my Mom's backyard this weekend!
I jave been so busy. I boought a LOT of candles and white tulle! I want to decorate the chairs too!

I wasn't going to... But now I think we decided we are going to... We met at a resturant... so we are planning on having it where we met.

We didn't have one because we thought our engagement was just too short to warrant one. We had a nine month engagement and we didn't want people to feel obligated to give us gifts.

Yes....My parents threw it for us....we got engaged in Aug...and it was 2 months from that...in October.... There were around 120 people, in a hall. It was awesome.....my FMIL told us to register...which was a GREAT help....we got a lot of GREAT stuff!!!!

I could of had a engagement party but I decided not to because I don't like the idea of having my guests give me gifts 3 different times. (e-party, shower and wedding). It's just me I don't think anything is wrong with having a e-party I just choose not to have one.

we didn't. our engagement is less than 9 months. another reason is b/c of $$ and the fact that 90% of our guests would be from out of state.

We had one two weeks ago at Riccardo's, in astoria. It was great! Everyone had a blast! I danced so much! It was like a mini wedding. My mom did a great job with the flowers. She also made sashes for the chairs and she tied a rose with the sash. It was absolutely beautiful!
