Who has some Plus sized BM's?

I have Two bridesmaids, MOH, JR BM, Flrwgirl
My MOH is Hefty so is my Cousin the BM. The dress pick is wreaking me. Because My sister my other BM is a stick. I'm no Stick, but does anyone else have this problem?

Re: Who has some Hefty BM's?

My MOH is very heavy, and add to that she will be 6 months pregnant at my wedding (so happy for her!!!)

I am planning for her to have a different dress in the same color so she willbe comfortable...

Re: Who has some Hefty BM's?

Lots of people have BMs of all shapes, sizes, coloring, etc. You can pick a designer and have each girl get the dress she feels most comfortable in, in your color of choice. Separates are a good choice for this. There are also many choices in dresses that look good on any size. Good luck and I am sure you will find something great.

Re: Who has some Hefty BM's?

I hate to be a party pooper, but speaking as a former size 24, I would refrain from using the word 'hefty' to describe a person. It can perpetuate stereotypes and can be quite hurtful to people. Even though I am slim now, I still feel tinges of hurt when someone makes comments to people who are overweight. JMO.

That being said, I have one person in my BP who wears a plus size. She opted for a more modest dress than some of the others. All of the dresses were from the same designer with different styles that complimented each lady's figure.

Please don't be offended I'm a size 14. Sorry I'll say plus sized next time.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

My sis-in-law is about a size 24 and she is one of my BM's. I chose dresses from David's, halter style with a false waste that is very flattering on all bodies.

Our BM's range from size 2-18 - we chose this dress which was absolutely flattering on each one:

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

I think the best thing to do with multiple shapes is Seperates..Alfred Angelo has a nice Seperates selection. It allows the girls to pick out a shape that they feel comfortable with and they are all in the same fabric/color.

I have a very big peeve with brides expecting their plus size BM to wear dresses that are not appropriate for their figures. For one it is not flattering and 2 I think it is uncomfortable for them.

Speaking from experience, I was in a bridal party and the dress was sleeveless, I NEVER wear sleeveless and was so upset that I would have to wear one in the spotlight! Thank goodness we ordered a wrap to go with it!!

'Hefty'
Not really a nice way to put it.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

We choose this one

I have two plus size girls myself, size 22 and 24 (a size bigger than they normally would wear) Most of the dresses that looked good on all three of them were A line, empire empazizes (sp?) a stomach if that's how they carry their weight, making them look like they are having a baby, so be careful with that.

Ladies, I don't mean to start anything, but the 'Hefty' comment is a bit insulting. IMO, not a nice way to describe the people you care about who are in your wedding.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

I didn't want anyone to feel uncomfortable, as I had being a bridesmaid in several prior weddings & being a former size 18-20. So, I told all of my girls that the dresses just had to be navy and floor length. They can pick whatever style they want and that way they get what they feel comfortable in.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

My MOH is plus size...but she actually chose the dress we ended up going with. It's a halter, a-line, cocktail length from Alfred Angelo.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

one of my cousins in my BP is heavy and she said she is trying to lose weight for the wedding. The dresses are strapless and I told her if it makes her feel comfortable to wear straps then that fine. I am very easy going, so it doesn't bother me if she wants to wear straps. Being in the wedding party makes her feel important, so I want her to feel important as well.

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

I have one. I tried to chose a BM dress that was flattering to all of the BMs. It turned out that the A-line look was the best for all of them

Re: Who has some Plus sized BM's?

One of my BMs is a larger size than the other 3 so what I did was have each girl pick a dress (same designer/same color/same length) in a style that flattered their individual body types.

The only problem is...the store didn't offer any sample dresses in any size larger than a 14 which meant that another one of my bridesmaids couldn't try on much either. I thought it was stupid because the dresses come in plus sizes yet they had none for them to try on.
