I bought my dress in November and Im not getting married till May 04. I was just looking to get an idea and I completly fell in love with it. So we ordered it. It will be in in June 11 months before my wedding. My dress will take 6 months to come in. SO I would say start looking no less than 9 months before the wedding so you have time to get the dress and fittings.

you also want to give the dress shop a date 2 weeks prior to your wedding. So if you are getting married 12/17, tell them you need it 12/1
i am going feb 22 to a shop on queens blvd. they have the dress i am in love with. so i am going to go try it on and a few others.

I am getting married nov 6, 2004 and I go to order my dress friday. same thing happened to me that happened to karen-i just went to get ideas with my mom and there it was-THE DRESS! they will probaby order it in mid feb-early march and it takes 9 months to come in-and they told me they order it as if the wedding was 2 months earlier-so for my wedding they are telling them i am getting married in september 2004 not nov! so that's good assurance! it should be in about 10-11 months prior to my wedding-but better it sits in MACYS preserved and safe then if i delayed and it got discontinued like they told me happens often! so good luck! its never too early in my opinion!

I am getting married in july 2004 and my mom and I went to 'look' last Tuesday. Well needless to say, I have the tiara, veil and dress. I am not sure when it will be in but she said they would store it there when it does come in.

I am getting married in May 2004 and I ordered my dress a few weeks ago. I didn't think I would get one so quick but I found the 'one'. They told me that it takes 6-9 months for the dress to come in.

I plan on looking in the next month or so when work starts to slow down. I am a June 04 bride. My friends dress took 11 months so you want to allow plenty of time. Even though 11 months was the craziest one I've heard. My other friends were 6-9 months!

I fall in love every time I pass a dress shop...
I went looking in September and fell in love with Kptoys dress...
I went last weekend with my MOH spontaneously and fell in love with the complete opposite gown...
I have an appointment this Saturday to try on a gown that I've been in love w/ for 2 months...
Who knows when I'll get my gown!

I had mine already, but I'm afraid to look at dresses on websites or magazines in case i find one i like better. Luckily i haven't seen any i like more than the one i have.

kptoys: Seriously, I tried it on in the store, my mom cried, strangers were telling me it was the best gown for me, the only reason I didn't put a deposit on it that day was b/c one of my BMs kept telling me it was too soon...
When you first posted it I was like 'THATS MY DRESS!'
But since I'm chronically indecisive, I have no dress yet...

I fell in love with a dress that was about to be discontinued altogether, so I bought the sample. I am getting married Feb 04, and I bought it May 2002. I stopped by to see it every now and then to make sure it's still there!

I went dress shopping in December. I am going to go again in February when I have a week off from work. I'd so much rather go in the daytime during the week. My mom has the same vacation as me so it works out perfectly.

I think should start looking whenever your ready. I don't think it's ever too early to start.. I think it's good to get ideas on what you like and what you don't like, etc.

I ordered my dress in November, right before Thanksgiving, and my wedding is not until May '04. I fell in love with it and ordered it early in case it gets discontinued. I have my dress, veil, and possibly tiara.
