Who hosts the Bridal Shower?

its supposed to be the bridal party...and not anyone related...b/c that looks like your family is soliciting gifts for you

but in these days, on LI, I think its so hard for the mom not to get involved...

I know my mom paid for both mine and my sisters

I think it's usually the bridal party...but it should be who ever wants to contribute!

It think it is supposed to be the bridal party but I know my mom is paying for mine. She told me that her mother payed for hers 30 years ago and she will be paying for mine. However, she is discussing everything with the bridal party so they are not left out and she is making sure they all have something to do.

My sister (MOH) hosted mine. She laid all of the money out, but no one paid her yet (my shower was in June). Nice in-laws I have, right?! I was just brought up to never owe people money and it pi$$es me off that they are taking advantage of my sister.

Traditionally the bridal party, but since it can get out of hand with the $$$ if you have it a restaurant- I think a lot of time the mother of the bride helps out. I think my mom paid for over half of it and the bms paid the rest. I went to one recently and there were 9 bm;s and I think they paid for the whole thing.

Depends on your situation. I had 3 showers, one hosted by my mom, older sister and my brothers wife. One hosted by FMIL and FSIL. One hosted by a friend not in the bridal party.

B/C my MOH and 1 BM are out of state and broke (grad students), and the other BM is my 18 year old sister who's putting herself through college, they just couldn't afford to host it. They are putting on a small bachelorette party though.

My Bridesmaids $UCK so I am POSITIVE if and/or when I do have one that my mom or sis would pay for it

This was a HUGE issue for us because my mother really wanted to host it WITH the bridal party but my BP went ahead and sent out invitations without including her (even though she is paying for most of it) My mom was really upset but my BP just thought they were doing the right thing. I don't know which is 'correct' but no matter what it should be brought up and talked about early in the planning process!

My MOH (FSIL) is handling most of it (god I don't know what I would do without her!) and FMIL is helping a little. If mom was in NY I know she'd help out too.
