Who is a nail-bitter???

I admit it, I am!!!!!!!!!! And it's gross...I know.
Sometimes I can grow my nails out and they look great - but then something stressful hits and I start picking at my nails ....

and you're supposed to have pretty nails to show off your E-Ring!!!

I used to, big time.

I have since stopped nibbling, but I do keep them VERY short and polished - otherwise they get all ugly looking.

Go to a nail salon and get regular tips, they will have to be polished with a color but after a few weeks, if you are a French manicure fan, you can have the old removed and get a permanent french tip, they look funny at first, but anything is better then short bitten nails. And it isnt too expensive, about 35 to 45 for the first appoint. Then every 2-3 weeks you go for a fill. I got lucky and found a really good nail place right away...trust me its worth the money.....and you will be even prettier

I tried this, but it's not practical for my job. I work in physical therapy. I had to remove the tips after a couple weeks, and my nails were so thin, weak, and disgusting, I wished I had never done the tips in the first place. It was $58 (including tip) to put them on, and it would've been $20 every 2 weeks to fill in. I totally wasted $58.

They did look pretty though...

WOW..im a terrible nail biter and mine came out shockingly good...but I didnt pay that much, I only paid 35, and 10 for the fill. I can see where they would get in the way with work though, Im sorry
My sister bought something from Sally Hansen, not sure the exact name, but it was a 'stronger nail' thing, her nails are pretty and strong for someone who has bitten their nails forever...maybe that will help

I am also a nail biter! I have been putting clear nail polish on them to stop but nothing helps! I will get my nails done for the wedding and hope they look ok.

Re: Who is a nail-bitter???

I used to be a very bad nail biter. I knew I wanted nice nails for the wedding but couldn't stop. So I went to a nail salon and had fake tips put on. They fell off after a week because my nails were so short. BUT because I went a week without biting them, I haven't bit them since.

I will admit it too. I thought I kicked the habit but under stressful times recently I started to bite one fingernail and then within the hour the rest were gone. I was BAD when I was little. I am glad there are others on here too that bite. I am trying to put color or clear polish on them, which makes them nicer and I don't want to bite.
Ladies good luck growing yours!
perhaps we can have a support meeting

Thankfully I've never been a nail biter.

Re: Who is a nail-bitter???

I used to be a HUGE nail-biter. To the point they would bleed, so I tried the tips thing and it didn't work for me, so I took them off and started to go for manicures. I used Nailtiques(sp?) formula #2. It worked! They are now strong and pretty. Once your nails get to the strong part you can switch to formula# 1. Also, nail optimizer works. Nailtiques is expensive, but you only use it once a day. You should try it out.

Re: Who is a nail-bitter???

My nails are stubs. I need to get fake ones put on soon.. like tommorow so I have them nice for the shower, b-party and wedding. I am thinking of perm french.

My problem. I also bite cuticles.. Gross. I know.

But fake nails only last a few weeks before they lift because my nails are so week. hope that if I am careful the fake ones I get put on tommorow will last until the wedding in 1 month, with regular fill in's.

Re: Who is a nail-bitter???

If you get the perm. french, which is what I have, ask them to put the acrylic on a little thicker, i bite mynails down real short...and I am very hard on my hands at work, and they should stay on, just dont pick at them after you get them done or they will lift on the sides...good luck

Re: Who is a nail-bitter???

I am unfortunately. But I've found if I keep them manicured, I don't bite them. I'm not sure why, but it works for me. The moment the polish starts peeling though, I start picking and biting. So in these weeks leading up to my wedding, I'm actually getting manicures twice a week (don't tell FI!) so they are always perfect and I leave them alone. It's working so far!

I used to be really bad with it, they'd be so raw!! But I found that as long as I kept nail polish on them then they'd grow nice and look pretty, so I didn't want to bite them. I still pick underneath tho, have a hard time keeping them clean.
