i dont think its outdated- you can do what you want. I didnt do it b/c most of my friends and guests werent single.

We didn't do either...but all the rest of my friends did it. One friend wrapped a dollar bill (or a five? i didn't catch one) around each stem of her break away bouquet. so when she threw it, each stem broke apart and everyone went scrambling for a stem.

I stood in the back because I didn't want to catch it......and missed out on some free $$$
