All of my grandparents are deceased and I was thinking of having a memorial table at the RH with their pictures on it.
Where is everyone putting theirs?

Re: Who is doing memorials?
i'm really glad you asked this. I was planning to do something but not sure what - for my grandparents and FH's dad... the other day I mentioned this to one of the secretaries at work and she said it was morbid
so i'm not sure what to do.

Re: Who is doing memorials?
i am nt having a memorial table but a picture table next to my sign in tree. It has all the wedding pictures of my parents, fh's parents (who passed away when he was young), sisters and brothers wedding pics adn then grandparents (some are passed also). SO I mixing it up this way its not a 'shrine' to the dead which some people like to say when they go to a wedding.

I don't think it's morbid at all! Lots of people recognize their deceased relatives because they can't be there in person to celebrate the day.

FHs grandfather passed away last week. We are going to do a memorial table for him. I saw pictures of another brides memorial table and I think it looked nice and was very thoughtful.

Hmmm. FH's parents had divorced when he was a toddler and his mother remarried. He had a relationship with his father and he suddenly passed last year. Putting our parents wedding pics up wouldn't be a good idea given the circumstances. I don't know what to do.

Yeah, it's not going to be the focus of anything, but just something more for us than anything. Our loved ones couldn't be there in person, but we know they are in spirit.
Do you know where the table was placed?

Re: Who is doing memorials?
I want to get a memory candle for them to light at the ceremony- my grandpa, my grandpa & fh's dad- and then maybe a picture table at the reception hall (not sure where) with individual pictures of them- we cant do wedding pictures either b/c fh's parents were in the process of divorcing when he passed away...

Re: Who is doing memorials?
I def want to do this. My mom tells me all the time that my fathers mother would have loved to have seen me grow up and get married. She says i am just like her. So what i am doing is i have my two grandmothers who passed. I am going to get a charm and put there pics on it and place it on my bo-k.
Then we will do either a table with flowers or by the guest sign in. Some even have the pictures on there table (the bride and grooms).
its your wedding. you do what you want!

Re: Who is doing memorials?
We are having the pastor make a statement something to the effect of we remember all the people who can't be here today but will always be remembered in our hearts. I don't want to make specific statements about each person cause there are too many and I don't want people to start thinking how sad it is that there not there. Thats just my opinion though.

i think they were placed up front near the place card table. So, it isn't the center of attention. Here are some pics I saved
I am going to have the candle and a pic of my dad in the church I will be lighting the candle before I walk down...I Received a poem for someone on here about that...I have it at home..Fm me if you want it...
Then at the front of the church I iwll have a candle with all my grandparents and uncles pic on it...That table will also be position some where at the reception...

i actually never saw/heard of a memory candle or table until this site, and i thought it was a really nice idea. I guess I'll run it by my sisters and see what they think. I really want my grandparents involved somehow...

My dad tells me this about my grandmother. She passed away from stroke complications before I was born. I wish I would have met her!

Me too.... So I know that just her being part of my day she would have loved that. I will have the bo-k and then not sure what we will do about a table still undecided.

Re: Who is doing memorials?
We are making a donation to the American Cancer Society in memory of FH's dad and my grand-mother. ACS is giving us cards to put on the table that say we made a donation in the names of _____ and ________ in lieu of a traditional favor.
