I CAN'T stand a man who tells me who Can and Can't get married. Who is he to tell 2 people who are so IN LOVE (rather then these husbands and wifes who are beating and killing each other) they can't get married? Although Kerry is against it also. The FCC and their stupid LAWS are you people (FCC) for real? FOR YEARS AND YEARS HOWARD STERN HAS BEEN THE SAME. HAD THE SAME THOUGHTS AND VIEWS. If you don't like do what people have been doing for years and change the DIAL! No one IS MAKING U LISTEN! And Stem cell research do you realize how many PEOPLE could be saved. Why can't they take the Cells just from the Placenta (THAT IS BTW GOING IN THE GARBAGE) AND use it to save people and cures for disease!?
Just for the record I am still waiting for the weapons of Mass Distruction.

I believe that is going to happen too! For many of the reasons stated above, I am voting for Kerry. On top of the reasons above I am voting for Kerry because I just CAN NOT live my life under two Bush brothers anymore! Down with George and Down with Jeb!

Posted by heidla I also believe that as Americans we have the right to disagree and voice our opinions. People fought and died for our right to speak freely. If that is considered Bush bashing then let me be guilty of it.
I think there's a distinct difference between voicing an opposing opinion and bashing. While you personally may not have been bashing, there is a ton of it going on, both on this site and in general.
I won't point to specific things said on this site because it's not worth my time but the Whoopi Goldberg thing at the Kerry fundraiser was beyond distasteful and I'm quite surprised that he allowed it to happen and did not apologize for it later. Regardless of anyone's specific thoughts on his politics, et al, he is still the President of our country and the leader of the free world. That in itself should be enough to command a decent level of respect that I, and apparently some others, feel he is not receiving. I think that was what smm2675 was trying to say.
I think that we are just going to have to agree to disagree.
I do not think that just because you are President you deserve respect. Especially when you have shown a blatant disrespect for so many Americans. He has crossed the boundaries as far as I am concerned. He has lied to the American people, tried to take away our constitutional rights, tried to make an amendment that was obviously supporting discrimination, tried to push his religious right beliefs upon all Americans, tried to hide behind the fact that he is President to not testify in front of the 9/11 panel . I don't have to respect this man. Yes, he is President, but I feel as an American it is my duty to question my leaders and voice my opposition or my support. And if I am not mistaken even stars have the right of freedom of speech.

I guess when you are the President know one, including Whoopie, can call you out- but if you are the VP you can tell anyone you want to F off...
please.
If you want to talk about bashing- lets talk about how Bush ruined McCain via slanderous lies in the 2000 election- that's bashing.
I don't think anyone- Kerry included- is bashing Bush- they are mainly pointed out inconsistencies in his administration- just as Bush is doing to Kerry & his tenure as Senator.

The way I see it is Kerry is doing all of his speeches now. Bush hasnt had a chance to talk yet. I think people should hear both sides before they decide who they will vote for.
i agree

The way I see it Bush has had the past four years of talking and doing. I don't agree with him and my his politics.
I am a very open minded person and that is the biggest difference between Bush and I.

That's exactly why it's driving me so crazy to see that Bush and his team have had very little to offer campaign-wise except for negativity. fear-mongering, and criticisms of Democrats.
This is how you win elections.
I like to think that elections are won by people who set forth positive plans for the future. If US elections are won through negativity, this country is in even worse shape than I thought.

thank you - that was my point. i don't think anyone who says something aganist Bush is a 'basher,' but he has a lot more info then we do. we all have an opinion of the war and Bush, let me say what i want about it.

I don't believe that I have ever said that anyone is not allowed to voice there opinion. I simply stated that speaking up is a right that ALL of us posess.

so we don't agree and lets leave it at that. i never said no one could not voice their opinion. i choose to vote for Bush and stand behind that decision, i did not say that those who supported Kerry are wrong.

I really don't think he went into war to settle the score for his dad. He had his own reasons that he felt were enough to enter into war.
What reasons exactly then? To gain a personal monopoly on oil? To attack a country that made no specific threat against the US? To disarm illusory weapons of mass destruction? Maybe he didn't go to war to settle the score for his dad, but I have, as of yet, to hear one legitimate reason... and meanwhile, innocent people are dying left and right....
Edited to say, that's the main reason why I'm voting Kerry... and, because it TRULY disgusts me that Bush is the first president in the history of this 'democratic' nation to try to amend this country's constitution to actually deprive a class of people of equal rights... it amazes me, it really does.

Re: Who is Everyone voting for?
This election is very personal for me.
My brother will be going back to Iraq with the Marines for the 3rd time in Spetember. Words cannot express how proud I am of him for doing what he does. And how jealous I am of his strength.
I hate Bush for starting this all and sending him there....HATE him. He has caused my family so much pain and agony because of this, I can never forgive him for it.
But, I also have to support what my brother is doing over there. He is helping, and from what he tells me, things are changing over there, for the better. We can't only believe what the media tells us.
But, should we even be over there? Do we have he right to be there? Did we go there for the right reasons? My brother believes in what he is doing...and I cannot let him go and not be supportive....so a part of me supports the war, but that's a more emotional, personal reason. And that's not how these decisions should be made.
There are so many unanswered questions. I can't imagine what I would do if anything happened to my brother while he is over there.....
And so, for me, this election is difficult. I do not agree with how Bush has handled things ove rthe past 4 years. I think he has lied to sway public opinion and get support from people. I think he used 9/11 to gain publicity. And that bothers me. But I don't want to be unsupportive of what my brother has been doing....
I am 99% sure I will vote for Kerry.....when I listen to him speak, I can hear him saying things that I would say. And I like that in a candidate.
But if I don't vote for Bush, am I being unsupportive of my brother?

i dont think if you vote for being you are being unsupportive of your brother. i'm sure you are angry at Bush for sending him over there, and i hope that things improve for the better both here and in Iraq. i pray for your brothers safety and thank him for protecting us.

I think that Bush believed that Saddam was a threat to the US. I think that he believed the reports that there were weapons of mass destruction. And let's not forget that Saddam broke the treaty that he signed about 10 years ago. He did not comply with the treaty that he agreed to. I'm not saying that I agree with Bush for entering into Iraq but I don't think he did it just to settle a score for his dad. He had his reasons. He felt that his country was in danger and he wanted to act on it. Was it the right choice? No, I don't think so. But he did have his reasons.

Re: Who is Everyone voting for?
Ive noticed that alot of people on here are saying Bush lied, but these people are politicians, THEY ALL LIE!! All these debates are about are 'here is what my opponent is doing, but Im going to do it this way'
Bush and Kerry are not the first people to say 'if you elect me Im going to do blah blah blah'. Half the time they never deliver, just empty promises. This is how you win elections by giving the people what they want to hear. JMO

I agree. They all lie and they all make promises that they can't keep. It's part of our system also. Just because Bush or Kerry wants something that doesn't mean that they can get it passed through Congress. It's all part of our checks and balance system.

u hit the nail right on the head...there is so much going on in our government that there is no way that one person can decide everything right away. doesn't our president deserve to have some assistance in the decisions he makes?
