I plan to give myself to FH and walk down the aisle without anyone. I do not speak to my parents and they wont be invited to my wedding.
Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

I would rather walk down by myself, as I do not like my father much...
but to compromise we will have my mom and dad walk me...

i really want my dad to give me away.... my mother is dead set on walking down too and i think that's becoming more popular. i'll think about it.

Don't be sad. I don't know your story but is there any way to reconsile with them? Or is there some one in your life that means a lot to you that you would like to give you away? Uncle, friend, grandparent?

Well I havent seen or heard from my dad since they divorced when I was 10 (16 years ago) and my mom has blamed me for the divorce. So as you can see I have no reason to speak to her. I left the house when I was 13 to live with a family friend. My family also has issues with me not marrying someone in my race (my fh is chinese). The family friend and everyone else does not approve so I said to hell with them all and am not inviting any family to my wedding except my half sister and my niece. I really hope that I am not asked too many questions at the wedding since it will really be a downer to me. I know that this will be a topic of discussion. How do I deal? I wont be having the father/daughter dance either and thats a hard one to explain to photogs.

Are you close with your ffil. Would you consider him walking you down the aisle? I know it's a stretch but I have seen it done before.

My FH does not speak to FFIL and is considering not inviting him to the wedding either. Its so funny that we both come from estranged families.

Then consider you wedding a new beginning for the both of you. A place and time where you can create your own family and traditions together.
