I plan to give myself to FH and walk down the aisle without anyone. I do not speak to my parents and they wont be invited to my wedding.
Just wondering what everyone else is doing.

Re: Who is giving you away?
My father has passed and my mother doesnt want the 'spot light on her' walking down the isle so......with this my son is walking me down, he'll be 14 by then. I really want the both of them but, she has bad knees, so I am being understanding.

Re: Who is giving you away?
My two Older Brothers, my dad passed away when I was seven years old. My mom never remarried, so both my brothers were basically like my dad.

Then consider you wedding a new beginning for the both of you. A place and time where you can create your own family and traditions together.
Ditto.

I would rather walk down by myself, as I do not like my father much...
but to compromise we will have my mom and dad walk me...
That is exactly what I am going to do!

Re: Who is giving you away?
My dad and mom will walk me down the aisle.
However, I love your idea of giving yourself to your FH... i think it is a very fresh and empowering choice... but if you do want someone to walk you down the aisle... you can always ask an amazing friend... :)
Remember that this is your wedding and you have to do what you want to do.

Re: Who is giving you away?
I want both because it's really 'both parents' giving you away if you have a close relationship with both of them... but my mom and dad are big on tradition so probably going to be just daddy!

Re: Who is giving you away?
I think that I want to have a fresh start to my life and I want to give myself - body and soul to FH. As I am walkiing down the aisle I will be walking to my new family and I will be proud of who I am and who we will become.
To think about it I am really not that sad since I wouldnt be who I am if I didnt have my past and I may not have met my FH so I am happy .

Well I havent seen or heard from my dad since they divorced when I was 10 (16 years ago) and my mom has blamed me for the divorce. So as you can see I have no reason to speak to her. I left the house when I was 13 to live with a family friend. My family also has issues with me not marrying someone in my race (my fh is chinese). The family friend and everyone else does not approve so I said to hell with them all and am not inviting any family to my wedding except my half sister and my niece. I really hope that I am not asked too many questions at the wedding since it will really be a downer to me. I know that this will be a topic of discussion. How do I deal? I wont be having the father/daughter dance either and thats a hard one to explain to photogs.
im really sorry, i wont be having a father daughter dance either (my dad passed away), so its difficult, however your wedding will be perfect and lovely with or without a stupid father daughter dance and whatnot...
