If we can afford it, I will stay home for a couple of years, then go back to work. I love my job so much that I can't stay away from it too long (though I may change my mind once the kids come).

I'm definitely going to be the stay at home mom. We had this discussion early on, even before we got engaged and married, because we bought a house together and had to decide if hubby could afford the mortgage on his salary alone if I didn't work. We can do it, it will be hard, but I will not put my kids in day care (I mean no offense to anyone here), and that's partly the reason we are workingour butts off now adn saving. We are both in our early 30's, and I feel I have advanced enough in my career to call it quits. Hubby os more than happy to work :)

I have been a stay home mom for 6 years now.
I am 31 and he is 37 and makes about 10X what I ever could.

I'm also a stay at home Mom. I WAS going to go back to work. But there was noone that we felt we could trust w/ our son. Then when we took out the calculater & realized how much it was to get to the city & back Then subtract the money babysittr would get. It turned out that it was cheaper for me to stay home. Luckily my Fi makes good enough money to keep us content.

My job has VERY flexible hours since I freelance and work when I want. It is wonderful for someone with children.

Since we both have decided that we weren't having kids this wasn't a dicussion that we EVER needed to have. Beside's he makes ALOT more than I do and I'd go stir crazy staying home all the time. I have been force to stay home several times for various reasons and can't stand it!!! Would rather be working.
