It's the underwritting that takes forever now.. they are crossing every T and dotting every I now b/c of all the trouble....

Call your broker for an update anyway.. that's what you are paying them for!!!

and thats all they told you? hmmm i would call the mortgage broker and ask. We got approved in about 4 days, it was a thursday and got approved tuesday or wednesday, a few days later we had the closing costs, all the contracts from the bank and signed them. Well i am the seller, but somebody close to me is buying so doing everything together. We had my apartment appraised a few weeks ago to be prepared but the bank said they want to send in their appraiser and he called last night and is coming tomorrow to appraise it. Now just have to wait for co-op board interview and closing date

Has the appraisal been done?

When you say approved...just like a pre-approval or you gave them everything, like tax returns, paystubs, financial info...?

Have they ordered the title report?

I feel like not knowing is just better but I'm so impatient! The real estate brokers keep calling and are asking what's going on and our mortgage broker is saying he can't go faster because the banks are backed up. He's going as fast as they can.

I feel like everything is on hold. I want to go out and buy stuff. I can't make plans to do anything because I want to keep my schedule open so we can close!

maybe that is it. Before we even went to the broker we had all the paperwork for them. Tax returns, paystubs, 401k info, other liquid assets. All the paperwork to the apartment, credit report

I know how frustrated you are...that happened to us too but then something terrible happened with our second loan and post poned it even more!!!
Hang in there.....keep looking at the pics of the house!!!!!! It really is tough to schedule anything in your life while you are waiting for closing date!!!! I know!!!!

I'll keep my fingers crossed but I know it will be fine...

We got pre-approved in January. Appraisal & inspection were done on the same day in February. We sent all the paper work you mentioned in February. We signed the contract early March. Our lawyer ordered the title report.

I sit and wait.

That's who I used too!! They are VERY thorough!!!

Well, the good news is that WAMU will no longer be originating loans...

they're closing everything ASAP. June 13th is the deadline to close.

Typically from the date of a signed contract, it's about 60-90 days for a closing--that's best case scenario. banks are compltely backed-up, but most likely someone is just not doing what ther are supossed to do. Sorry to tell you that. Ask your broker if you have Clearance to Close from him...start there.
