Who is paying for what for your weddings? In these days of non tradition and high cost for weddings how is everyone doing it? What is your wedding going to cost you? How did you start your realistic budgets? Thanks

Re: Who is paying ?
In the end: We paid for everthing except, my sister: dress as part of her gift to me his parents: gave a $2000 gift to us the day before the wedding. Our wedding came out to about $12,000 including honeymoon and wedding bands.
I know this is a controversial topic, but I just wanted to share the reality of things: after all gifts, we ended up spending about $7000 out of our pockets. I have gotten flamed for saying things like, 'making money back' etc, but anyway, the reality is that the gifts did help us whether we looked at it this way or not.

Re: Who is paying ?
Here's my breakdown: My mom and her husband: $300 towards my dress Their friends that they invited My dad and his wife: DJ Rehersal dinner My FH's parents: $8,000 as a gift (yeah! using towards reception hall) My FH's sister and brother-in-law: Limos as a gift Us: Everything else.
We are paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves but I am SO greatful for the contributions from our families. Don't get me wrong - It would be great if one of us had a family that was capable of paying for it all but we don't.
