I'm getting help from my family paying for the wedding. But FIL have not contributed anything or offered any advice or anything. They are completely ignoring the fact that we're getting married. But FMIL has the nerve to want to invite 150 people (just her side) to the wedding but she isn't willing to pay for the extra people. Our head count is 125 max (both sides of family). I told her she was out of her mind and asked her outright for 90 pp that she wanted to invite over 125. She was offended. I laughed.
Anyone else having these issues with FIL??

We're paying for the wedding ourselves so it's important to keep the headcount to 175 (our minimum for the room) We're giving FMIL a count for how many people she can invite according to this...and she offered to pay for any additional couples. Maybe you could suggest the same?

My parents and FMIL are paying for their guests at the hall. FMIL is paying for the honeymoon as our wedding present. My parents may help with favors. The rest if up to me and FI!

She is not willing to pay for anything. When I suggested she pay for any extra she kind of shut up and said only immediate family could be invited.
You have to undertsand this is a woman who showed up for her only grandchild's first b-day party 2 hours late. She hasn't bought her anything for christmas since she was born (not even a card).
I am not even expecting a wedding gift from her.

i have had problems - My parents are paying for the wedding which i am very grateful for - but my FILs are not paying anything for it but of course had lots to say about picking the date Understand i am in my last year of law school and have to take the Bar at the end of july and i start my new job in september -they told me that they could not make it to a wedding anytime after the middle of august till the end of september because of work - but they work in educiation but they could have planned ahead and not had much just to come up the wednesday before the wedding - i now have the wedding two weeks after the bar exam - i just gave in but it is annoying when they put a say in and they are not paying

My parents are paying for the reception hall, Limos and my Wedding dress and assceories and me and my FH are paying for the rest.

My mom is paying for my gown and my bridal shower. Me & Michael are paying for everything else. We are working really hard....and have cut back on everything that includes spending our $.

me and fh are paying for most of it. fil's are paying for rehersal dinner, bridal shower and my dress. my parents are paying for the limos, favors and misc. stuff like garter, toasting flutes, etc....

Same here!
But I think 150 is insane! If he can't pay for the guests that he wants then he doesn't need to invite them. If you're paying then you have the right to keep it to the amount of people that you can afford.
