I have been working with James Cress in Smithtown and he's been great, but has cancelled my latest appt. (to see my sample centerpeices) 5 times now! It's driving me crazy!! There's always a different excuse and yesterday the lady said to me well, your wedding isn't until Sept. so what's the big deal?? I was LIVID! I want to get everything I can done now... we're closing on our house next month and moving in and I'm going to be crazy!! I've heard you guys talk about Flower Michele, who else can I check out??

You may want to call your hall and see who is on their vendor list before you go any further. Some halls charge extra if you use florists who are not on their vendor list.
Second the term '#1' is subjective. It really depends on what you're looking for, what style you like, how much you want to pay, etc. Cress is one of the higher end guys, btw.
And you and I have the same wedding date.

I used Peter Morello of Sweet Violet Floral and Event Design. If you want to give him a call, I can give you his number... he works out of his house in Brooklyn...

I know they're wonderful, it just seems as though they are getting the 'we don't need you, you need us' attitude and I don't like it. The reason I ask for the # 1 florist, is everyone feels the florist they pick IS the #1 choice and I want to hear suggestions on who everyone else chose.

We are using Sugar Magnolias and we love working with Heidi. She is very accommodating and exactly what I was looking for.
Alot of girls use Flower Michele and have loved them. So they might be worth a look.
For me I am not a big James Cress fan. Although his work does turn out beautiful I don't think he's a nice man at all. He was very rude to me and gave the brush off to every idea I had. I think it was a personality clash but the flowers samples were very nice.

I think its hard to say who is the number 1 florist although i am very happy with my florist, Flower Michele, John has been great to work with and their work speaks for itself, i hear alot of brides rave abot Burtons, i know they are very inexpensive, and for some people thats the most important thing. I met with J Cress and found them to be very pricey and a bit out dated, sorta stuck in the 70's with the pictures of the work i saw and thats not for me, but may be for some. So i think its most improtant to find a florist you gel with and one who understands what your individual needs and expectations are, and most important that you feel confident to trust them with the most important day of your life.

We are using Pedestals (long island location)...they are wonderful to work with (especially the owner which is who is doing out flowers).

I used In Full Bloom and thought they were fabulous -- Marie was very patient, and had great suggestions, but was accepting of my ideas.

BURTONS!! However, my wedding is August 2. I am not supposed to go to pick out flower until June, b/c by that time they will be in bloom. Maybe not all your flower are in bloom yet.
I wouldn't switch, talk to him about it and then make a decision. You will drive yourself even more crazy trying to switch.

Thanks for all the feedback girls... I do like the ideas Cress has come up with, however, hate being blown off. I agree with you littlekat - it may be more stress to switch. I plan on calling him directly today. I'll keep you posted on how it goes.
