who is throwing your shower?

who is throwing your shower?

My wedding is less than 3 months away. My mom keeps asking ME about my shower and what is/needs to be done...i'm like I don’t know you should be telling ME when it is etc. My sister got married and has had 2 kids I planned her bridal shower AND both her baby showers pretty much on my own. Now when its my turn i'm left to plan my own?

I can't throw my own i'd just rather not have one then but I know deep down i'll be disappointed! My sister lives out of state. My mother actually asked me the other day if the shower could be the day after the wedding. (Since my sis will be here...r u kidding me??)

I have two good friends that could possibly do it but they haven't mentioned it to me. Do I say something to them???

Sorry girls i'm just upset over a number of things. My families lack of involvement in this wedding and now this!

ETA: I just wanted to include the fact that we're having a small wedding 30 guests tops. I guess technically I don’t need a shower?

Technically my mom and sister (MOH) are throwing it, but my gay bestie and I are planning it since it is in DC and mom and sis are in NY. FMIL was supposed to, but she flaked

How far out of state is your sister? My MOH and family is in alaska so my local BM's took over the planning. Mine will be two days before the wedding so my family and friends can all be here. I say talk to your BM's. Ask them to contact your sister to help.

Do you think maybe she is doing that to throw you off? As in making it a surprise? My mom and MOH are orchestrating my shower along with those whom they allow to help which is the rest of my bridal party. I dont know the details though as its a surprise!

Thanks-My sister lives in Charlotte. But she's got two small kids; and only recently started working again; so she doesn't have the time; or the $$ to travel up a few weeks before the wedding.

She's flying up the day before. Maybe i'll just say that i want to go to dinner the night before with my sis; mom; and close friends? since we're having a small wedding i don't need a HUGE shower; just want to go do dinner with the women closest to me.

Re: who is throwing your shower?

I guess this is a popular issue---- bc my mom did not really want to throw me one bc she is paying for a big chunk of the wedding- yet my BM/frineds did not even consider throwing me one bc they assumed my mom would cover it. So my mom is sucking it up and throwing me one but then complaining about the unplanned expenses. So in the end---- you dont win either way.

i'm s orry that your family isn't more involved. i think having the shower the day after the wedding is ridiculous. i'm sorry, that's jus tmy opinion. and it doesn't mater h ow many guests you will be having at yoru wedding, you can still have a shower! and i know this might be tacky, but if there are people who you are not able to invite to the wedding because of whatever reasons, you can invite them to the shower, maybe coworkers or other friends who would have otherwise not have been able to share a special day with you.

my FMIL is throwing the local one, and my mom is throwing the one in July when our family gets together. I'm sorry you have to deal with this.

I agree! I DO NOT want to have it the day after! Then it's like why even bother???

I posed the idea to my sister to have dinner the night before the wedding so that it would be more like a bachelorette party style/Girls Dinner. I'm spending that night at my parents house anyway; so we could turn it into a sisters slumber party with the kids. My 4 year old niece would get a kick out of it!
