Ok, but really I don't think either candidate did as well as he could or should have at tonight's debate and they really didn't draw clear distinctions or clear plans for the futrue of our foreign policy.
Agreed! There was no clear 'winner' because neither of them did very well. They each used the same four lines over and over again.
However, I thought this was the best line of the night:
BUSH: My opponent looked at the same intelligence I looked at and declared in 2002 that Saddam Hussein was a grave threat.
He also said in December of 2003 that anyone who doubts that the world is safer without Saddam Hussein does not have the judgment to be president.
I agree with him.
A long long time ago top scientists and doctors of the day thought the world was flat. They believe this and they had proof to back it up.
Then some one came along and proved otherwise.
The way I see it- Bush still thinks the World is FLAT... Kerry is willing to reasses his position based on new information.
What in the world does that have to do with what I wrote? Did you pick the wrong post to quote??
You thought Bush's quote was the best quote of the night- about calling Kerry a flip flopper...

I've never liked Bush more. He's doing a great job tonight!
please don't throw anything at me. I agree.
I think Kerry looked a little nervous - maybe bc Bush has been doing this for 4 years...but I felt like Bush believed in what he was saying vs. just saying what the public wants to hear - make sense?
ETA - Dina are you still coming over my house?
I don't LOVE Bush - but I thought that last night he was a better debater...is that a word?
Bush is a master- debater... ha ha ha ha
No, now we can't come over- please don't vote for that liar.. he's doing nothing for your pocket, and he's doing nothing for this Country.. read the Times and The Post between now and the elections and then make up your mind.

Re: Who is watching the debates?
I started watching last night's debate with an open mind. After all, I'm very far to the left of any mainstream democrat candidate, so I'm not likely to be particularly impressed by either debater. Also, I know that GWB can be a charismatic fellow (I refuse to say 'fella,' as his cowboy shtick -- thank you Mr. Wealthy, Yale-attending family -- is about as phony as Kerry's motorcycle tough shtick) so I was interested in seeing his approach, his attempts to be Joe Likeable, et cetera.
Here is what I saw when I watched.
George W. Bush talked to the American people as if he were a dog trainer talking to an obedience school class. He kept saying the same empty phrases ('it's hard work!' and 'America is safer!') over and over and over and over again, hoping --as one would when training a dog -- to elicit some sort of behavioral response.
It made me sick.
(I am again looking for Hearzbellz's puking smiley!)

The quote was a reference to the fact that Kerry does not have the judgment to be President, not that he flip flopped. Although god knows, there's PLENTY about that - I can find them for you if you want

Kerry does not have the judgement to be President???
He's never been president to prove himself .. being one senator from one state is a whole lot different from being the only president for one country.
Sticking with a president is a whole lot easier than finding the courage to trust in someone else, especially at this critical time.
And to find the courage to trust in someone else, takes time in listening to what that person is actually saying, not what others are saying/paraphrasing/conveying about him in some summaries or undermining effort to those very people who are afraid of the change in the first place.

Re: Who is watching the debates?
The biggets thing that Bush has behind him in this campaign is fear. When people are afraid they want a 'tough guy' and the certainly don't want change. So many peoplein this country wanted revenge after 9/11 and that's what Bush tried to provide. These ween't cool, thought out, rpoven solutions but th actions of someone who thinks he lives in a comic book world of good and evil. We really need to rethink that philosophy. Nothing is black and white and killing other people will not make up for the people who were killed on our soil. All we've done s riase the 9/11 death toll to above 4 thousand..and for what? There has been no proof that iraw had anything to do with 9/11 and if you honestly feel safer, i think you're really stupid. Our occupation has LED TO the formation of all of these fringe groups. HUssein was not a good guy but he kept his country running at a relative calm and people would live their day to day lives wihtout the fears they live with today. We're passing on our fears to other people so we can have a flase sense of security? I will not vote for that. EVER

Uh, I think you need to revise your little post here. I love how liberals and democrats are liberal and democratic only about their own views - if you don't agree with them, you must be a moron who does not know his *** from his elbow. I thought the point of democracy was people making up their minds based on the free flow of information? Why would you assume that anyone who disagrees with you does not listen to that information. PLEASE.

Re: Who is watching the debates?
Keryy may have 'flip flopped' on some issues but I would rather have a flexible president who can change his opinion when information is presented, then a president who sticks to his guns and doesn't even take new information into consideration!!

I personally believe that the majority of people that are voting for Bush this time around do not listen to the news or watch the paper (this could account for the reason why people STILL think Saddam and Osama caused 9/11 when in fact Saddam has no know ties). I think those who do watch the news watch Fox which is highly biased.
Actually most news media is slanted to the right- it's harder to find independent/liberal sources of information now than ever- especially since the Powell son deregulated the FCC... nepotism at its finest.

If he stops stammering it won't be half as entertaining!
