Oh wait, the so-called 'liberal' media didn't cover it, so you probably have no idea what it is.
We had Osama, Cornered, in the Mountains. We knew where he was. Did we capture him? No. We told the Afghans to do it. And what happened?
He got away. Yes folks, He Got Away. The Man Responsible For 9/11 Was Not Captured because the Commander in Chief wouldn't order US troops to get him.
Let's not even get INTO the fact that Osama is over 6 feet tall and is lugging around a DIALYSIS MACHINE through the desert!
And we can't find him? The man would die without dialysis! It shouldn't be THAT hard!!!!!
You know why we don't have him?
Because we're not looking - That's Why.
Why aren't we looking for the man responsible for 9/11?
Beats me.
Totally agree. I feel Bush is trying to put fear in the American public. Vote for me or disaster will strike. I call that bullying people for their vote.
He absolutely is a bully and won't back down to anyone. It is hard to picture how Kerry would react to and handle our present situation. I don't see him as strong as Bush. Yet, there are so many issues I am not in agreeance with Bush on...it will be tough.

Ok, but really I don't think either candidate did as well as he could or should have at tonight's debate and they really didn't draw clear distinctions or clear plans for the futrue of our foreign policy.
Agreed! There was no clear 'winner' because neither of them did very well. They each used the same four lines over and over again.
However, I thought this was the best line of the night:
BUSH: My opponent looked at the same intelligence I looked at and declared in 2002 that Saddam Hussein was a grave threat.
He also said in December of 2003 that anyone who doubts that the world is safer without Saddam Hussein does not have the judgment to be president.
I agree with him.
A long long time ago top scientists and doctors of the day thought the world was flat. They believe this and they had proof to back it up.
Then some one came along and proved otherwise.
The way I see it- Bush still thinks the World is FLAT... Kerry is willing to reasses his position based on new information.

NO ONE thinks that the terrorist issue will be solved with 'nice talk' That's not the issue. It's just a matter of common sense.
Someone punches out your kid sister. You're like 'oh damn, I've gotta go deck that guy' Ok, so you find out who did it (let's call him Omar) and you look for him, you find out where he is, and then you tell some random punks on the street 'alright guys, go get Omar!' Then they don't get him, you're still pissed and one fo your buddies tlls you 'hey guess what, I heard that this guy Sam is friend with Omar, maybe you can go get him' So you decide 'well I never really liked sam anyway, he stole my dad's radio a few years back, and plus if I kill him I can steal his bike' Other people tell you 'Hey, ahng on a sec, we're not so sure Sam has anything to do with this' and you say 'well, you know what, remember my dad's radio way back when? He's an evil guy. I'm going after him.' So all of your buddies go and attack Sam and his entire family and neighborhood, wreaking havoc on all of these innocent people.
Then you later find out that Sam had nothing to do with punching out your sister. And sure, maybe he was a bd guy and stole radios all over the neighborhood, but now because of your people, all of these people now have broken glass windows.'
First of all, why didn't you pursue Omar? Secondly, once you found out Sam had nothing to do with it, woudln;t you apologize to Sam's innocent neghbors, and to your friends who risked life and limb to trash his neighborhood?
The reaosn i simplified it like this is because it just seems like common sense to me. And it does seem just as pathetic as a schoolyard battle when somsone acts as stubbornly as Bush has/

Isn't this a WAR ON TERROR??? Terrorism isn't quite as simple as your story.

It's not as cut and dry as that. Saddam might not have DIRECTLY had something to do with the attack on 9/11, but he's PART of the Terrorism problem. What Bush is trying to do is ELIMINATE ALL PARTS. Kerry is in agreement...or at least WAS... (flipflop, flipflop)
PS the 'END of story' thing is offensive. I'm just voicing my oppinion as you are.

Not 'end of story' as in 'you cannot talk',. but 'end of story' as in, to me it is clear that saddam hussein was not allied with osama bin laden. They were enemies. The terrorist threat form Iraq is one that we have created since the occupation.

If Bush was really trying to ELIMINATE ALL PARTS then he'd be more concerned with North Korea and Iran having nukes! His lack of concern is inconsistent with his message of them being invovled in the 'axis of evil'...
Saddam didn'f fly the planes into the twin towers- Al Qaida did- and that will never, ever change... so as far as I am concerned, as a New Yorker and as someone directly effected by the attacks here, I am insulted that Bush would think I am that stupid to not realize he dropped the ball and is letting Bin Laden go.

Bush is NOT trying to eliminate ALL TERRORISM - there is horrible terrorism in Northern Ireland - no one is touching that! H'es not TOUCHING terrorism in Africa!

THANK YOU! Terrorism did not start on 9/11 and it doens't begin or end in the middle east. If Bush were committed to ending terrorism or even WMD's, woldnlt he have started in a country that had more terrorism than irawq did before the occupation?Woldn;t he have started in one of the countries we KNOW has WMD's. Can no one add? Try because it doesn't add up.

Bush wants us all to think he's Mr. Tough Guy. Mr. never left - the - country - during Vietnam. Pretzel-choker. Recovering alcoholic. Semi-literate.

I've never liked Bush more. He's doing a great job tonight!
please don't throw anything at me. I agree.
I think Kerry looked a little nervous - maybe bc Bush has been doing this for 4 years...but I felt like Bush believed in what he was saying vs. just saying what the public wants to hear - make sense?
ETA - Dina are you still coming over my house?
I don't LOVE Bush - but I thought that last night he was a better debater...is that a word?

Really? I am surprised to hear that people thought he did better. I thought he looked very agitated where as I think Kerry looked very confident. Plus, Bush seemd to fumble on his words a lot - like he had no idea what to say next some times.
Sort of related - and this is for either side - but do they have ear phones in where their advisers or whatever can tell them stuff to say? Cause I felt like Bush seemed like maybe sometimes he was waiting to get more info, and Kerry a few times seemed to come out with statistics I'd be surprised anyone could come up with cold. Just wondering..

Re: Who is watching the debates?
Hubby and I had to listen to part of the debate in the car on the radio ... and the comparison was dramatic between Bush and Kerry .. so much so .. that within minutes of having turned on the radio .. I said to hubby, someone's feeding him what to say!
(For the record .. this was around 9:30).
DH and I are clearly split on who we prefer .. though hubby doesn't seem to be as passionate in agreeing with Bush on many of the Bush 'policies' .. however, DH was not happy with the performance by Bush .. and DH is always one to try to defend Bush when media criticizes .. but DH was very let down last night by what he heard, and eventually saw. (We picked up TV coverage a little after 10).
