hey, if they would have kept my man..
istead of blantantly disgarding him for a pathetic loser like tuffle..hey maybe i would have stayed...but i couldn't stay with a team that makes such HORRIBLE CHOICES!

I wasn't even a Yankee fan, i wouldn't watch basball after Backman stopped playing, it wasn't until my friends father got sick..he was a yankee fan and in his honor we became ones too (when he couldn't go to games anymore, we watched them with him)...which was AFTER they won the World Series!

So if that makes me a turn coat..i could careless!

no comment

I think Elster retired. He was on the Texas Rangers for awhile.
but you can always see him in 'little big league' (the movie) i sit through that just for him!!!

WALLY BACKMAN

Yes i am answering this one because i was a fan..
but when they traded my man, i vowed never to be a MET
fan again!!!

---

You are the prime example of a 'fairweather fan'. Hehehehehe. J/K

HoJo was my favorite... but he didnt really get good till 87-88.

---

Uh i don't think so...i am a true blue fan actually. I was a Wally Backman fan. So when he went so did i!

There is a difference

ETA...if the METS would like to resign him...i might consider being a neutral fan, instead of a MET hater!

---

You switched teams because they traded one player??? If you havent noticed this happens alot in baseball.

I had (maybe still have) the biggest crush on Rick Aguilera. So he was my all-time favorite Met. I remember being at Shea standing wait for Dwight Gooden's autograph and all of a sudden I was about to get it and saw Rick going to give out autographs and ran away from Doc to get Rick's autograph. My favorite #'s are 38 and 15 to this day (his 2 numbers on teh Mets)....when I told him he was my favorite player - I thought he pretty much laughed at me - I think he thought I was just saying that to get his autograph....and I did shed tears when he was traded for Viola...at least that was when he turned around his career a bit.

I miss Roger McDowell and his personality and antics. Also, a big Keith fan and of course got to love Wally. Also loved Hojo - esp when he was reallygood. And what about El Sid? Ok - was I suppose to pick just one????

I remember seeing Kevin Elster's wife on Geraldo. The segment was about cheating husbands and she was doing laundry one day and found lipstick marks all over his underpants.

This was after his Mets days so I'm not sure what happened to him afterwards.

Rodger McDowell was hysterical. I loved how he would always started fires in the dugout.

I got his autograph and took some pictures of him. He was so sweet, and so cute!

He was very nice - I met him a 2nd time at a baseball car autograph thing and my mom still has the picture of me and him on her dresser!

Oh boy, I have many favorite 86 Mets.

Mookie Wilson
Kevin Elster
Keith Hernandez
Wally Backman

Billy Buckner.

I actually always liked Carter. Even though I'm a Yankee fan, I always thought Gary Carter was a great player.

you are no real yankee fan and i will no longer consider any of your comments against the Mets to be relevant -- you are the perfect example of the worst type of baseball fan

---

WHAT??? I hope your kidding because thats very harsh...considering in 1986 most of us were about 10 or 11 so REAL fans we were not because we were also interested in Barbies and He-man....or were fans of what ever team OUR parents liked...

Calm down a little ok.....

That said, I LOVED Lenny Dykstra...I was an 86' met fan as well...went to many games...yes..because my MOM was a fan...What the heck did I know at 11 about baseball...when I started appreciating the game around 15-16 I became an immediate Yankee fan...
