I have a question about the japanese hair straightening....
Is it bad for your hair?? Cause my hair is already pretty thin so I would hate to do more damage to it. I've always thought about getting this done because my hair has a wave to it and tends to get very frizzy, which means, if im wearing it down, I MUST straighten it with my hair iron. Is this something I should look into doing?? I know that its super expensive so I would love to hear from someone thats had it done, or knows someone whos had it done, and what theyre experience was....TIA!
(It might be nice not to have to worry about my hair on the honeymoon...)

My friend and her mother get it done all the time and LOVE IT!!
However, just remember that when your roots grow in, they grow in with your natural wave...

my sister did it and had a bad experience - the whole underneath part of her hair in the back broke off and left her with like an inch of hair. she couldn't wear her hair in a ponytail for like a year.
but on the other hand, my cousin does it and hasn't had a problem.
the only difference between the 2 was that my sister does alot of coloring to her hair my cousin not as much. if your hair is weak i wouldn't recommend it.

i've done it and i love it too *haha* ... it's not bad for your hair .. it's similar to a perm i guess ... just don't color your hair within a few months .... that will damage your hair :) HTH

I used to dye my hair all the time when I was younger.....but I havent dyed it probably in over 7 or years! And I have no plans to dye it in the near future....

If you have thin hair I wouldn't do it, it tends to make your hair look even thinner

i also dont know if you should do it for just a wave in your hair. I dye my hair so i can't really talk but all those chemicals are not great for your hair and think if its worth it for just a wave in your hair...If someone has real curly hair then i would say yeah get it. I dont know about someone with straight hair getting it

I know it may damage your hair if its very chemically treated to begin with.
My mom and sister both get it done (I think it was $300). They love it and it didnt ruin their hair. My mom had to wait like a month before coloring it.
I personally wouldnt want it b/c its soooo straight. Someone once told me that you can get it so its not so stick straight, but I never looked into it.

I wanted to do it but I was told not to bec my hair is kinda damaged from all the highlights I had. I think having very fine hair will damage your hair and make it super flat that if would not look right

oh yeah- also, FHs cousin got it and her hair never really seemed curly or anything to begin with. I think she just didnt want to have to blow it out al the time. She was happy w/ it.

yeah, thats my deal. I literally can NOT where my hair down unless I blow it out first and then straighten it with my hair iron. If I dont, it will be a frizzy, wavy mess. My hair is not curly curly but it definitely has a pretty severe wave to it. Its absolutely not straight by any means. It would just be nice to wear my hair down for once and not have to worry about going through the hour and a half long process!

yeah i would def talk to your hairdresser then. Plus you said you haven't dyed your hair in 7 years so you should be good to go

I've been doing this for 4 years straight and love it. never use a flat iron or hair dryer again! but if you have thin hair, i would not recommend it. it will really dry your hair out and damage it. same if you have color or treated hair. the lady doing it should be able to tell you if you can have it done or not.

umm i didnt take any specific before and afters, ive been doing it for about 4 years now, all i can say is my hair is really curly, like noxema girl curly. and now its straight, if you look in my album for my engagement party i even used a curling iron, lol, ironic isnt it, ha. yeah so my hair is straight, but not like too straight. at first it is very flat but after about 2 or 3 weeks it does get fuller once ur hair grows a bit. like i said, i love it, but the only thing id worry about is your hair being thin in the first place and its only a little wave idk if its worth doing. i know some girls go into queens and stuff to do it and they pay only 300, i pay about 700. i just trust my girl so much so its not worth it for me to go somewhere else thats cheaper if my hair is gonna fall out. also, if you decide to do it, DONT go while you have your period, you hair will not take as well.
