figure the candles are like a dollar, and then there is the actual glass votive which can run you anywhere from 1-1.50 and then the vellum, a package will run you about 20-30 bucks and you have to print it out.. and your time..

the glass votive holder is at michaels for $1... if you arent in a rush, sometime they go on sale 2 for $1...
michaels also carries the vellum and candles

You buy the vellum paper at staples (i did). I got 2 packs for like $20

The votives are 2 for $1 at Michael's. Sometimes they even go on sale 3 for $1.

The votives are tealights. You can buy a huge bag full anywhere for like $4. Ikea sometimes sells the bag.

You could also check out buyacandle.com they sell the votive holders really inexpensive. Or there is this place that I ordered my votives from they are called cudge fabrics and they are in New York they have votives and holder for 72 for $34.88.

You can get the tea light candles at Ikea for really cheap. Don't forget to use tea lights instead of actual votive candles. They come in bags of 100. Rag Shop also has sales on votives for as much as 4 for $1.

Re: who knows how much...(who did the VOTIVE PLACECARDS?)

I just did these for my wedding in Septemeber. It could be that I am not crafty but it was alot of work. I had about 290 guests so I needed about 180 candles. We bought the candles at Michaels- they were a $1 each. The votives at Michaels are good beacause they are thick and do not get too hot when lit. I got the vellum paper at Staples and I also got a paper cutter to cut the vellum paper to the size of each candle. The paper cutter helped alot because we were able to cut a bunch at a time. Sizing the paper was really hard it is impossible to have a perfect fit. Attaching the paper to the candle is tricky too. We tried vellum tape- no good for us- way to hard to work with. Double sided tape was too noticeable through the vellum. In the end a clear glue stick was easiet to work with- but you have to be really neat with application- just a dab or two. We also tied a little ribbon bow at the top of each candle which helped hold the vellum on place.

It really was alot of work- but they turned out nice and really cute. I had to drop them off at the reception hall a few days before and I was so nervous leaving them. I wrote detailed instructions and bought those long lighter sticks so they could light them easily. I had them lit 10 min before the start of the cocktail hour. They really looked nice all lit up on the table. But honestly I don't think anyone really appreciated them. Alot of guests left them on the table and never picked them up beacause they did not want to carry them. At the end of the night we took about 40 home with us because guests did not take them home.
In total it cost about $250-270 to make them.

I think it is easier if you have a smaller wedding.

Re: who knows how much...(who did the VOTIVE PLACECARDS?)

we are diong these for our wedding - we go the votives abotu a month ago for 3/$1 at michaels and the votives were 2.99 for 50 at michaels on sale too! since then i have seen frosted votives which might be easier - then you could just use clear address labels to attach on them! we are going to try to do a spin on them and add kinda like a tea bag size tag on each that will say the persons name, then dab some whitish paint on them to cloud the votive holder a little and make the light shine nicer! they are really nice and we wanted them to add to the ambience...plus its a small thing we can do to commemroate fh's mom who passed away and loved candles!!
