So FH and I just bought a house together, we've been living together for most of our relationship (moved in together 3 months after we met and have been together 2 years). Lately I've been wondering if the majority of engaged couples live together or not, and if so, what has your experience been like? Do you rent or own? who is in charge of the finances, etc. Do you feel like you are missing out in a sense by living with your FH before being married, or are you happy you made the decision to live together first?

We live together... I bought a condo last year and he moved in with me in May... I take care of all the finances (I want to)... its fun. I love coming home to him and always having him there..

We dont live together yet. I miss him tons b/c I only get to see him on the weekends. When we do move in together I will have an hour commute so I'm trying to hold off as long as I can.

well technically we do not but we sleep by one another and eat dinner by one anothera all the time so it feel like we do..we r going to start looking next yr

We don't live together, but i'll be moving in with him in about a month. I am very excited I also see him typically just on the weekends, but we have been together for a little over 5 years now, so i'm pretty much used to that. It's going to be quite a change when i move in

We live together...I love it- Right now we are renting a three bed room apartment so we have plenty of space. The first few months after we moved in together were really tough b/c I am really neat and FH is super messy...I am glad we were able to get through the messy transition BEFORE we were married. I do most of the bills and FH never questions how I choose to handle our finances as long as he does not have to do it.

We live together in Manhattan. I moved into his apt that he owns 11 months in, coming on a year living together. I have to admit it was tough for me at first b c I had my own apt in the city for 6 yrs before meeting FH. Now I LOVE IT...its nice to know he will always be home with you!!

technically we don't. However, he's at my apt every night. We are looking for a house though and as soon as we find one, we will be living together, which will be a little strange because I've lived alone for many, many, many years.

We do! we moved in together about 9 months after we started dating. we rent an apartment and are hoping to by a house this summer.

We don't live together. I live at home and up until two weeks ago FH had an apartment. We never really discussed how we felt about it, although I think we both really wanted to be old fashioned and traditional about it anyhow, but we knew that it would upset both our parents if we lived together first and there was no reason to do that.
Now we bought a house together, but were working on it and fh is in the guest room with a double bed, because the master is the last room were doing since it needs the most work and we can't afford the King Furniture yet anyhow. So I am still at home. We thought about moving in together now that we both own the house, but we are so close to our wedding that at this point it would be silly to break the tradition we wanted to keep with only a few months to go.

We do not live together yet, and even if we do manage to find a place to live before the wedding, we will not move in together until after. Our families would flip.

We live together. FH bought this house about 9 years before we met. So far living together has been great. He deals with most of the finances for now because everything is in his name. I'm happy I moved in with him before the wedding because now I know how it will be when we are married

We live 3 blocks from each other, but will be moving in together in the next few months. FH just sold his apt (too small for both of us) so that we can get a place together!

Soon after, we moved to PA and are now renting a condo here (we're not ready to buy here because we're not certain if PA is a long-term thing). I LOVE living with FH. It was a great decision for us. I really wanted to give the whole thing a 'test run' and we work together so well in the same household. As far as finances, we split everything down the middle and there are no disagreements. We use our own money to buy our own stuff so we don't argue about who's taking what out of our joint account. We try to keep finances as simple and stress-free as possible. We still have a ton of fun together and we have enough space in the condo to get our 'alone time' when we need it (he'll go in to our office/second bedroom and play video games while I watch girly shows on tv ).

Ive lived with my FH for a few years now, just about half our time together. 2 years ago we bought a condo together, we actaully split the finances. He pays morgage I pay for everything else including food, house stuff, etc. It equalls out to just about half and half and then we have our own bills like cells, cars, etc. I like that we each have a part in the bills but I am all for giving it up to him when we are married, hes way better at the oranization and budgeting than i am.
as far as living together, it was the best decision that we ever made. I know we would have been fine after marriage but living together is soooo different than just dating. I liked that we eased into it and everything was natural and easy. Aside from him being a massive slob, i love living with him!
